Getting to know Pendean House Pendean House is a spacious carefully modernised Victorian country house. It offers nursing, residential, respite, convalescence and palliative care. A comfortable home with every modern convenience Pendean House is an elegant and comfortable home, which was built in the 1890s and retains many charming architectural features, like oak panelling and decorated fireplaces. At Pendean House, we take great care to focus on the person. It’s important for our residents to feel at home, so we create a friendly environment with an individually appropriate balance of care and independence. Our care At Pendean House our team of registered nurses and well-trained care assistants are available around the clock to ensure our residents’ comfort and wellbeing. Each person has a unique care plan as well as a named carer and named nurse. Valuing the individual Each of our residents has an important life story which we want to learn and understand. By spending time listening to residents along with their family and friends, we create and capture each person’s experiences in My Day, My Life, My Story – this helps us tailor our care to the needs of each person. We want family and friends to get involved in our residents’ daily lives and they’ll always receive a warm welcome when visiting. The home At Pendean House all our tastefully furnished bedrooms are ensuite with 24-hour call systems, television points, thermostatic radiators and smoke detectors. Residents are encouraged to bring along some favourite ornaments, photos or pieces of furniture to make their room feel more homely. Expert care Wherever there are very particular care needs, you have the reassurance of a careful balance of independence and security along with the very best expert care. Our person-centred approach emphasises respect, dignity and quality of life. Respite/short stay Regular time off is essential for carers – and for their loved ones – so we offer respite stays of anything from a few days to several weeks. This helps carers to recharge their batteries, knowing that their loved ones are getting excellent care around the clock. It’s ideal when carers have been unwell or are planning a holiday, or as a trial before a person moves permanently into a home. Living actively as part of the wider community Activities at Pendean House At Bupa we know that popular activities and stimulating interactions are a vital part of good nursing care. It can also be good for friends and family to spend time with residents. Having something interesting going on every day is very important for a resident’s general well being, as it helps to keep their minds active and improves their appetite. Friends and family Whilst we provide round-the-clock care, friends and family remain a very important part of life. So we encourage their involvement with all aspects of life at Pendean House, including activities and community events. There’s plenty of space for spending time together, and we ensure that you have the privacy you need. Delicious menus Enjoying food is an important part of life. Our chefs create well crafted menus made with the freshest ingredients, and each day’s menu is posted in large, clear type on display boards in the dining rooms. Personalised dietary care Soon after a resident arrives at Pendean House, we discuss their personal preferences and dietary needs with them. We cater for a wide range of dietary issues, including food intolerances, cholesterol reduction, and difficulty with chewing or swallowing. Dining companionship Residents can choose to dine in their room, or to join others in the spacious dining room. Friends and relatives are always welcome. Out-of-hours snacks We offer a Night Bite menu between 6.30pm and 6.30am for residents who like a snack outside of normal kitchen hours. This includes fruit, sandwiches, cereals, yoghurts and hot or cold drinks.
