Who we’re looking for
We are looking for a full time Play Specialist to join our friendly and dedicated paediatric
team.
You will have a recognised Health Play Specialist Qualification or level 4 Diploma in
Specialised play for Sick Children and Young People or an equivalent Qualification in
Hospital play.
Current registration with Hospital Play Specialist Education Trust HPSET or overseas
equivalent. Also, documented evidence of Continuing Professional Development.
We are offering a salary of up to £27,320. This role will close on 12th October and interviews

About the Role
The Play Specialist will be a fully integrated member of the Health Multi Disciplinary Team.
She/he will work within the Play service and ward / department team but will also be required
to work independently using their own initiative, organisation, leadership and time
management.
The Play Specialist will provide developmental, therapeutic and specialised play techniques
for all ages and diversities in an effort to fulfil emotional, social and developmental needs
and help assist families and children with their hospital experience. She/he will help bridge
the gap between hospital and home, creating a positive environment and a positive patient
journey. She/he will provide interesting and stimulating play programmes for children, young
people and their families. She/he will highlight the importance of playing assisting recovery
and aiding development to all health professionals and students.
Although Play staff will be based on the ward, they work for the Play Services across the
Paediatric directorate and will be expected to work in all other areas and undertake Play
Service projects.

children, offering advanced clinical facilities for complex medical and surgical procedures. As
a vital part of the internationally renowned Bupa Cromwell Hospital, the Paediatric centre
has a team of consultants, nurses and staff who offer expertise, dedication and compassion
not only to young patients but also to their families.
The paediatric centre is now in its second decade ever more committed to offering this
specialist care, both to children from the local community and to those who travel from all
over the world. We have over 70 dedicated paediatric specialists drawn from all London’s
top teaching hospitals providing us with an unparalleled range of expertise
