Stop Work Authority identifies the authority, responsibilities, and personal obligation for each employee to stop work due to a safety concern without the threat of penalty, reprisal or intimidation. The program, management’s strong support must be clearly communicated to all employees during new hire orientations, specialized and ongoing training, employee and subcontractor presentations, safety and pre-work meetings. Target Safety Daily work duties should always begin with a tailgate safety meeting. Developed by Safety Advantage, the topics discussed in these safety meetings are defined by the S.T.A.R.T.tm program, which includes daily safety awareness, safety training, and last minute risk assessments.
