Technology and Nutrition
Tips for teams when setting up technology at accounts:
Laura Lapp
MS, RD Director of Nutrition,
Chartwells Higher Education
Dining Services
With many technology requests coming
in at this time of year, I want to remind
everyone of the process for all technology pieces in order of application. Regional marketing managers should use this
information to guide and facilitate unit requests. It is important all requests follow
this process to ensure appropriate support can be provided.
nDine on Campus menus from Webtrition: The unit should contact their regional
chef first to conduct a Webtriton review. The
regional chef will provide his/her approval
to me to initiate the process. Units must
be compliant with Webtrition as a production system to be eligible for online menus.
nKeep Dine on Campus website content up-to-date at all times: Teams should
ensure that ALL content on Dine on Campus is kept current. Review your campus
specific dining hours, menus and other news
so students have access to the latest and
greatest information and announcements.
nMobile app: Units that have successfully launched the Dine on Campus menu
feature may launch the mobile app. Units
should contact Tom Lapp at Tom.Lapp@
compass-usa.com to initiate the mobile app request and receive instructions.
nNutrition kiosk: Units that have successfully launched the Dine on Campus menu
feature may launch the nutrition kiosk.
Units should contact me at Laura.Lapp@
compass-usa.com to initiate the nutrition kiosk request and receive instructions. It is important that the local team submit
any requests personally so that support
teams have direct contact information. If
you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me directly: 847-986-4162
land and 773-484-6244 mobile.Thank you.

birthday during the annual NSSA barbecue at the Salisbury Train

Chartwells Catering at Catawba College in Salisbury, North Carolina had the privilege of catering a weekend-long annual awards
event for The National Sportswriters and Sportscasters Association and its Hall of Fame over the summer.
The NSSA has called Salisbury, NC its home for 54 years. And during the June 2013 NSSA event, Catawba College President Brien
Lewis offered this prestigious association a permanent home on
campus. This exciting invitation also coincided with an announcement that the college will be offering a degree in broadcasting
beginning in the fall of 2014.
Dave Goren, Executive Director of the NSSA said, “Over the past
three years, Chartwells has been a great partner in making the
NSSA Awards Weekend a huge hit with more than a thousand
guests from all over the country. The attention to detail that Corey Fischer, Chartwells’ Director of Dining Services, Jason Ritter,
Executive Chef, Shane Huneycutt, Catering Director, and staff provided is second to none.”
The VIP Hall of Fame inductee reception was hosted at the home
of President Lewis. Chartwells’ culinary team prepared a variety
of dishes including pesto shallot bruschetta with smoked Gouda,
lemon seared scallops atop won ton crisps, and a country club
tenderloin crostini. President Lewis said, “The warmth of the welcome and the quality of the food and service definitely made
quite an impression on our visitors for the NSSA events.”
Catawba Catering helped transform the Goodman Gymnasium
on campus into a ballroom setting that hosted a banquet for 350
distinguished attendees with an extensive menu. A special NSSA
salad was prepared with baby greens, Mandarin oranges, toasted
almonds, and feta cheese topped with blueberry citrus vodka vinaigrette. Entrées included chicken Marsala, salmon filet with basil
chutney over wilted spinach, and carved flank steak with horseradish aioli to name a few.
Additionally, Hall of Fame inductee, Dick Vitale, celebrated his 74th
The following comments from NSSA’s Dave Goren summed up
the entire weekend-long event. “The events they cater for us turn
into no-worry affairs for our staff. And that is a huge help when
you’re entertaining as many people as we do for as many days as
we do. Lastly, the quality of the food Chartwells has provided has
exceeded even my ‘food snob’ expectations. I make sure to check
with our guests throughout the weekend. The reviews of the food
were unanimously positive. In fact, the word ‘delicious’ was the
term used the most.”

Receives Academics Award
The Greek PanHellenic Council nominates members of the Shippensburg University community for its annual Outstanding Support
in the Area of Academics Awards. Historically, this award is presented to a faculty member who has gone the extra mile to help
the Greeks succeed academically. In May 2013, Sandy Rauber, Chartwells’ checker at Kriner Dining
Hall, was nominated for this prestigious award. Nick Iula, Chartwells’
Resident District Manager commented, “I became aware of the significance of this award and was glad to hear that Sandy was nominated and received the award last spring. The Council expressed
that Sandy’s pleasant, concerned and supportive demeanor played
a constructive role toward each student’s academic experience
contributing to their success. It’s great to see that a pleasant smile
and caring comment from a Chartwells associate has such a positive effect. Congratulations Sandy!”
