Seventy-two newspapers submitted 2,668 entries in the annual contest. Kentucky Press Association judged the entries. The awards were presented tonight, June 22 at the 2013 Alabama Press Association Summer Convention at the Hilton Sandestin in Destin, Florida. General Excellence, Best Public Service, Freedom of Information, Most Improved, Best Presswork, Photo of the Year, Story of the Year and Categories 1-8 were announced during the awards banquet.
