TOTAL AMOUNT IN THIS REPORT: $751,695 Board Meeting 02/01/2006 POLICY REPORT NO. 3 Approval of Resolution Ordering Election for May 13, 2006, in Trustee District 1 and 7 It is recommended that the Board of Trustees of the Dallas County Community College District order an election and other matters related to the election by adopting the attached Election Order Resolution. The election will be held on May 13, 2006 in Trustee District 1 and 7. In addition, the Election Calendar is attached. Effective Date: February 1, 2006 ELECTION ORDER RESOLUTION WHEREAS, Section 3.004, Election Code, and Section 130.082, Education Code, requires the Board of Trustees of Dallas Community College District to order an election to elect certain members of the Board of Trustees in even-numbered years; and WHEREAS, various provisions of the Election Code require the election order to contain certain information; NOW THEREFORE; BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF DALLAS COUNTY COMMUNITY COLLEGE DISTRICT: Section 1. That an election shall be held on the second Saturday in May, 2006, which is the thirteenth day of May, 2006, to elect two (2) members of the Board of Trustees of Dallas County Community College District in Trustee Districts 1 and 7. Effective Date: February 1, 2006 RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING COUNTY VOTER PRECINCT BOUNDARIES WHEREAS, Section 42.061, Election Code, authorizes the Board of Trustees of Dallas County Community College District to establish election precincts for any elections ordered by the Board of Trustees; and WHEREAS, the Board of Trustees desire to have the same voting precincts as adopted by the Commissioners Court of Dallas County for the May 13, 2006 election; NOW THEREFORE; BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF DALLAS COUNTY COMMUNITY COLLEGE DISTRICT: Section 1. The statement is submitted here (in the attached document) for review and approval by the Board of Trustees in compliance with (SACS Principles of Accreditation (2004), Section 3.1.1. Cedar Valley College Mission The mission of Cedar Valley College is to provide quality learning that prepares students for success in a dynamic world. We fulfill our mission by: • Providing a broad curriculum that includes academic, workforce and continuing education offerings; • Responding to current and future learning needs of the communities we serve with a variety of instructional modes; • Valuing openness and mutual respect, embracing forums to exchange thoughts and ideas from the diverse population we serve; • Promoting excellence through a commitment to continuous employee development; and • Serving students, employees and society in an ethical, responsible and caring manner.
