Having Trouble with the Portal? Follow these steps for a quick fix. If you are not able to log in, the problem is quite commonly resolved by changing your password. PARENTS: Click “Forgot Password” link just below Log In button. You will be prompted to enter your user ID OR your email address. You must then check your email and follow the prompts to reset your password. Important notes: You will need your child(ren)’s 6-‐digit PIN number to be able to see grades. Only one parent (email address) may be used to access the parent portal. Second parent must register on the community portal, especially if second parent wishes to register as a school volunteer. STUDENTS: If you are having difficulty logging in to your student portal, the most common problem is that you need to reset your password. Click the “Forgot Password” link, which is just below the log in button. You will then be prompted to enter a password or answer a question. If the password you remember does not work, do not keep entering the same information because after three wrong attempts, you will be locked out and will have to wait 24 hours to try again. If the old password doesn’t work here, then try answering a question. If you answer the question correctly or if the old password is accepted, the next step is to CHANGE THE PASSWORD. Remember the new password must be eight characters long and must include at least one number. If you did not previously set up security questions, be sure to do so when prompted. This way, you will be able to reset your password easily if there are problems in the future. ID: 12345678 Name: Smith, John A Important Notes: If logging in for the first time ever, your default password is based on your birth date: MMYYYYPW. This represents two digits for the month (so February is 02; four digits for the year; and PW is for password). When you change your password, you must have eight digits and a combination of letters and numbers. If you are still unable to log in, ask your HOMEROOM teacher to submit a HEAT ticket on your behalf. The teacher will need your name, ID number and birth date and will ask that your password be reset to the default. Once the teacher informs you that your password has been reset, simply follow the steps above (click “Forgot Password” then “use a password” which is your default password). You will then have the opportunity to create a NEW password. Be sure it is something you will remember and be sure to write it in a safe place so you will have it for future reference. The following is a message from Miami-‐Dade County Public Schools regarding the Parent Portal: Good afternoon all, We’ve identified a common problem for parents trying to view their students’ grades through the Parent Portal. A number of parents are clicking the orange link for “View Grades” at the bottom of the parent window, and then reporting that they don’t see any grades. This is not the right link for PIV access. Please help your parents by showing them the difference between the PIV and the quarterly Report Card & Textbook links. • To view PIV with current grades, attendance, and assignments, parents need to click the “view” button in the blue Electronic Gradebook graphic. • The orange “view grades” link (below the blue graphic) will not display grades until after the first quarter grades are posted in ISIS.
