CPOD Advisory Committee
Dear Committee,
I am writing on behalf of our prospective organizing committee to express our
strong interest to host the 2017 CPOD conference at Stony Brook University (SBU). The
conference will be cosponsored by Brookhaven National Laboratory (BNL) and will involve
organizational and logistical support from both institutions - T. Hemmick (SBU), J. Jia
(BNL/SBU), D. Kharzeev (BNL/SBU), R. Lacey (SBU), S. Mukherjee (BNL) and P. Sorensen (BNL)
have all agreed to serve on the local organizing committee.
As you are no doubt aware, the experimental runs for the first RHIC beam energy scan
(BES-I) have been completed and the analysis of the associated data are in full swing. In addition,
new plans are being formulated for the next energy scan campaign (BES-II) at RHIC. Thus, we
believe that a 2017 BNL/SB cosponsored conference would be timely and beneficial to the field.
Stony Brook University is located in the village of Stony Brook, New York, a residential
neighborhood 65 miles east of New York City. The Main campus encompasses over 1,039
acres and is home to more than 150 buildings. It provides the perfect setting for the next CPOD
conference.
The Hilton Garden Inn Stony Brook hotel offers stylish accommodations on campus. Conferees
will also enjoy easy access to nearby shopping, beaches and malls or take the complimentary
hotel shuttle to attractions in the local area.
We know that you will give our proposal the fullest consideration and hope that your
decision will be a favorable one.
Yours truly,
