HENDERSON HOSPITAL –
Bringing Advanced Medical Care and Jobs to the Area
Construction of the new 245,000 square foot Henderson Hospital is well
underway. When it opens in 2016, it will bring advanced medical care
and new jobs to Henderson.
Henderson Hospital is the sixth facility in The Valley Health System,
which includes Centennial Hills, Desert Springs, Spring Valley,
Summerlin and Valley hospitals, all located in and around Las Vegas.
Henderson Hospital will have 142 patient beds when it opens. It will serve
as the anchor of the Union Village complex. Constructed on 30 acres at
US 95 and Galleria Drive, the hospital is slated to open in 2016.
“When the hospital opens, residents in the Henderson community will
have access to quality care and advanced services that only an integrated
health system can deliver,” said Karla Perez, Regional Vice President, UHS
Acute Care Division. “It is a tremendous privilege and honor to support
the community and bring this new hospital and advanced medical care to
our families, friends and neighbors in Henderson, Boulder City, western
Arizona and beyond, and at such an important time in our nation’s
healthcare history.”
Karla Perez
Regional Vice President,
UHS Acute Care Division
The Valley Health System
According to U.S. national health statistics reported by the Southern Nevada Health District,
there is a shortfall of hospital beds in Clark County. The addition of a new hospital will give residents of
Henderson and its surrounding area greater access and choice when it comes to hospital selection.
The new Henderson Hospital is the primary medical facility in the Union Village healthcare complex.
It will provide high-demand medical care, including general surgery, emergency care and specialty
women’s services. Advanced diagnostic imaging will also be available when the hospital opens.
The hospital will provide approximately 500 new jobs initially and that number may expand to as
many as 800 over time.
You can see photos of the hospital construction and learn about services that will be provided at
www.hendersonhospital.com.
The Valley Health System, including the new Henderson Hospital, is owned and operated by a subsidiary
of Universal Health Services, Inc. (UHS), which has had a significant presence in the region since the
company was founded in 1978. In fact, Valley Hospital was one of the first UHS facilities 36 years ago.
Physicians are independent practitioners who are not employees or agents of The Valley Health System.
The system shall not be liable for actions or treatments provided by physicians.
Congratulations
to the Henderson Chamber for 70 great years.
WE ARE HONORED TO BE A PART
of the City of Henderson and to continue
working toward a brighter future.

Fellow Business Leaders,
This year marks the 70th anniversary of the Henderson Chamber of Commerce. The chamber originated in 1945
at the conclusion of World War II as the community of Henderson (not yet incorporated as a city) pulled together
to produce magnesium-based bombs to defeat Nazi Germany. The strip of magnesium included in our logo,
separating Black Mountain from the rising sun, is a tribute to our war-time founding. Henderson, the second largest
city in the state, is a community proud of its origins, independent and optimistic for the future.
After weathering the worst economic downturn Southern Nevada ever experienced, the city and the Henderson
business community are on the cusp of a period of economic growth. The Henderson Chamber of Commerce is
a part of that momentum, building upon the economic surge. Chamber membership has grown nearly 10 percent
annually for the past three years, approaching the 1,100-member threshold. Our sponsor base has grown nearly
200 percent during this same time period. These results show that the chamber is delivering ROI on membership
like few other organizations, and we deliver these results at an unparalleled value.
The Henderson Chamber of Commerce is your small business chamber with the support of leading large
corporations and big businesses in the valley. This enables us to deliver the services our members need to grow
their businesses. We are proud and honored to act as the conduit to connect our members with the leads and
services they require and expect. Our mantra is: large enough to be relevant, yet small enough to be personal. Your
business doesn’t have to reside in Henderson to be a member; we have many companies throughout Southern
Nevada that actively participate, engage and benefit.
To achieve these growth goals, personal service is our foundation. Our dynamic, nine-person team caters to your
business over the life of your membership, and we do our best to learn about the services you provide, allowing
you to be a part of an incomparable personal business network. Our boards, chamber leadership and ambassadors
are an integral part of our personal service platform. From our Board of Directors, to the Henderson Development
Association Trustees, to our Foundation Board, we act in unison to further the mission of the chamber and improve
our business environment.
The Henderson Chamber of Commerce thanks all of our volunteers for their dedication and commitment, our
members for being a part of this community, and our generous sponsors who helped make this 70th Anniversary
Business Press Insert possible, including Dignity Health-St. Rose Dominican, Henderson Hospital, a member of the
Valley Health System, and TRONOX.
Thank you for being a member. Who do you want to meet today?
At your service,
Scott Muelrath, President/CEO

Chamber of
Commerce
Celebrates
70 Years
of Building
Our City
In Henderson, where the BMI magnesium plant had done so much to ensure the
downfall of Germany and Japan, Aug. 17, 1945 must have been a typical hot summer
day, with swamp coolers pumping away. As twilight came, sometime around 8:30 p.m.,
many residents might have been sitting on their front porches, relaxing and hoping for
a cooling desert breeze. By that hour, the temperature would
have retreated into the low 90s.
To a small group of pioneer Henderson businessmen, all
of whose lives were somehow tied up in the destiny of a
town that wasn’t meant to live past the end of the war, it
wouldn’t be a typical summer night. They had gathered
together at the old Townsite School to discuss the feasibility
of organizing a Henderson Chamber of Commerce.
In the minutes of that first meeting in 1945, it is noted
that “the meeting was well represented by the business
and professional citizens of Henderson” (which, at that
time, was between 20-25 individuals). William Byrne was
appointed chairman pro tem that night, and while fired
up with enthusiasm for the future of Henderson, spoke
William B. Byrne, HCC President | 1945-1948
for a long time on the advantages of forming a chamber
of commerce. There was a consensus. A chamber of
commerce would be formed. And on Sept. 7, 1945, days
after the formal surrender of Japan, the bylaws and constitution were adopted, and
the officers of the organization set up an election for the board of directors. On this
same date, the chamber of commerce had also approved its first formal motion.
It was agreed that the State Highway Department be contacted “for the purpose
of obtaining signs on Boulder Highway to designate Henderson Township. Motion
carried.” The current chamber offices are located on this very same highway, 70
years later.
Those early years were spent organizing and prioritizing, but by the first meeting
of 1950, the chamber minutes reflected a change. The membership was becoming
more involved in area activities, going beyond the limits of Henderson itself to
participate in important issues, including plans to improve and enlarge bus service
between Henderson and Las Vegas. They also undertook huge projects such as
acting as the utility company for Henderson residents until a municipal government
could be set up.

It may come as a surprise to some that the
Henderson Chamber of Commerce celebrates its
70th anniversary this year. After all, the city itself
just wrapped up a 60th anniversary in 2013 –
officially incorporated on April 16, 1953.
has been an important supporter of the Henderson
Chamber and its programs for decades.
But what many don’t know
is the city itself owes its
existence—at least, partially—to
the chamber and its members.
In November 1951, during the chamber’s efforts
to get Henderson recognized as an incorporated
city, two county commissioners, Rodney Coulton
and Herb McDonald, were guests of the chamber.
McDonald asked if Henderson wished to become
part of Las Vegas, and the chamber vigorously
declined. Or, as the minutes read, “Chamber said
NO!” (It should be noted that the chamber still
holds a strong grip on its independence and is
proud to stand as one of the most effective
professional organizations in Nevada.)
Lou LaPorta was one of the earliest chamber
presidents (1959-1960) and has lived in Henderson
since 1945, watching both the chamber and the
city grow exponentially.
LaPorta recalls the importance of the Rose de
Lima Hospital in the city’s formation. In 1947, when
it seemed that the town would soon be vacated
after the closure of the magnesium plant, the
Adrian Dominican sisters of Adrian Michigan
purchased Basic Magnesium Hospital from the
U.S. government for $1 a year for 25 years.
“Henderson would probably not exist if not for the
sisters who came out to start St. Rose de Lima
Hospital,” LaPorta said. It is now one of the top
performing hospital systems in the nation as

“So many of our founding members
are still actively involved with the
Henderson Chamber, including
TRONOX, Black Mountain Golf
Course, and Railroad Pass.”
Stated Scott Muelrath, current president
and CEO of the Henderson Chamber.
“Thanks to them, we are still growing and succeeding
in our goals to improve our city.”
The past few decades have spoken to the chamber’s
persistence and success at strengthening
Henderson’s local economy. Alice Martz, former
president of the chamber, watched Henderson’s
population grow from 38,600 in 1986 — the year
she became president — to more than 270,000.
During Martz’s presidency, the Henderson Business
Resource Center (HBRC), an incubator for small
businesses, was founded, as was the Leadership
Henderson Program, which helps community
members become skilled and effective leaders.

Today, Henderson, the second-largest city in Nevada, enjoys the

“It’s really a service-oriented organization,” said Rick Smith, former
chairman of the chamber. “The first thing we ask new members is, how
can we help you increase your business exposure? Who would you like
for us to introduce you to? That’s the hands-on, personal approach
that the Henderson Chamber of Commerce has.”

The meetings that began with a handful of local business owners
are now monthly breakfasts of 125 to 150 members who discuss
topics relevant to the community. The chamber now boasts nearly

It’s that personal approach rooted in the

Barbra Coffee, City of Henderson director of economic
development and redevelopment since 2013, said that
the involvement of the association plays an instrumental
role in area growth.
“There are three ways to foster revitalization,” Coffee
said. “On the city side, our role is to provide programs that
attach local ownership to the area. On the redevelopment
side, we need infrastructure improvements. But most
importantly, we need the involvement of the community
to keep the shared vision alive.”

THE HENDERSON BUSINESS RESOURCE CENTER
CELEBRATES 15 YEARS
The Henderson Chamber of Commerce Foundation
pioneered the first business incubator in the State of
Nevada. The idea was formed, the need was there,
and a location was donated–the perfect recipe to
start the Henderson Business Resource Center.
“We had so many new startup businesses budding
in Henderson that we wanted to provide a platform
that would offer them affordable office space where
they could congregate with other small businesses
and receive mentoring and assistance from our
larger, more established chamber members,” said
Bill Bokelmann, Foundation Manager | HCC
Alice Martz, president of the Henderson Chamber
of Commerce at that time.
“We had tremendous buy-in from many local companies as well as the City of Henderson. Sponsors were plentiful;
they understood the value of having an incubator in their own community. Wells Fargo generously offered to house
the center, and USAA Savings Bank gave an annual grant to help offset costs that would have trickled down to the
tenants were it not for that additional support,” said Rebecca Fay, former director of the center.
The center is celebrating its 15th anniversary
this year, and it remained at almost full
capacity even during the recession.
Some of the graduates of the HBRC are now thriving companies in the Henderson business community. Imagine
Communications, for example, was one of the first tenants at the center. The company is currently occupying an
office in Anthem that houses its staff of 12 employees and has recently expanded into two other states.
Alex Raffi, one of the firm’s owners, currently serves on the Henderson Chamber of Commerce Foundation Board.
“It is an honor to serve the Henderson Chamber. It truly is a privilege to sit on the Foundation Board alongside
so many other great community leaders who understand that to have a great community, you must give back
however you can,” Raffi said.
The center celebrated its 15th anniversary last month alongside a ribbon-cutting ceremony for Home Helpers &
Direct Link of Henderson, the USAA Savings Bank veteran-owned business grant recipient. It remained at almost full
capacity even during the recession due to affordable, all-inclusive office rates that are as low as $375 per month.
“People were offering free office space during the recession, but they provided little else. The resource center
not only provided affordable office space, but a variety of other essential programs and resources. We
support our tenants by providing entrepreneur training, one-on-one business counseling, meeting
space and networking opportunities,” said Scott Muelrath, president and CEO of the Henderson
Chamber of Commerce.

Veteran-Owned Startup Awarded HBRC Suite
Designed to assist small business owners and support
new businesses, the Henderson Business Resource Center
(HBRC) has announced a new program with longtime center
supporter USAA Savings Bank.
The bank announced that it will provide a grant to subsidize
the rent, utilities and center services for a veteran-owned
Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for Home Helpers & Direct Link of Henderson
startup business for a full year at the center. In turn, the
Henderson Chamber of Commerce added to the offer by announcing that it would provide complementary
annual chamber membership to the selected business.
“We are honored to be one of the organizations supporting the HBRC,” said David Fersdahl, president of USAA
Savings Bank. “USAA’s mission is to help the financial security of military members and their families, which aligns
with the opportunity to help a veteran-owned small business like Home Helpers & Direct Link of Henderson.”
The Chamber Foundation Board’s Veteran-Owned Business Committee selected Damion Byrd, a retired Air
Force captain, to occupy the suite, effective July 2015. Byrd spent 20 years in the Air Force and retired this past
December. He owns and operates Home Helpers & Direct Link of Henderson with his wife, Berni. They offer nonmedical help with day-to-day assistance and companionship for seniors, recuperative care individuals, continuing
care for people with lifelong challenges and care for new expectant mothers.
“It’s working out really well,” Damion Byrd said of the recent move. “It’s helping us improve our synergy, and
we’re very excited to be over there. The efficiency that we gain from having things consolidated … we’re pretty
confident it will translate into more sales in the future. We’re very thankful for the sponsorship.”

Leadership Henderson,
15 YEARS OF LEARNING, CARING & LEADING
Former Henderson Chamber of Commerce president Alice Martz came
up with the idea of a chamber leadership program in 2000. During the
program’s inception, Henderson was one of the fastest growing cities in
Nevada. The timing for a professional development program was ripe,
and the Henderson Chamber handpicked its first group of leaders for the
inaugural class of 2001.
The first class of 20 active chamber members essentially made up the
program as they went along.
“We knew that we wanted the program to have an element of leadership
training, offer exposure to the city as a whole, as well as offer high-level
Rebecca Fay, Leadership Henderson Director | HCC
networking. We found that the business community was eager to host us
and give us an in-depth look into their companies,” said Martz, a graduate
of the class of 2001.
The program has come a long way, having celebrated its 15th anniversary this year.
“It was our best year yet; we met and exceeded all our goals in the area of recruitment,
alumni involvement and support, as well as surpassed our budgetary goals,” said Rebecca
Fay, program director.
Fay has seen the program flourish over the years, helping it grow even during the recession.
“Leadership Henderson is alumni-driven. It is our alumni who really make the program such
a success. They volunteer their time, offer resources, their talents, contribute financially,
and they help us to recruit other great people to participate in the program,” she added.

The program has evolved over the years, and its graduates are a fraternal group of leaders in the community.
“The training that we offer through Elements Consulting is relevant and applicable both at work and at home. In
this constantly changing world of social media and workplace code of conduct, we have found that we must offer
information and training that meets the demand of what is impacting businesses and communities today” Fay said.
Only time would tell if this program would take off. After 15 years, it’s obvious
that Leadership Henderson has blossomed into something extraordinary.

Tim Brooks,
INCOMING CHAIR FOR THE HCC BOARD OF DIRECTORS
As the Henderson Chamber of Commerce turns 70, its leadership is taking a new turn,
too. Tim Brooks, the incoming chair for the Henderson Chamber, said he couldn’t be more
excited about what’s ahead. Brooks, himself a small business owner, said he feels a special
kinship with the Henderson Chamber and has for several years.
Brooks’ relationship with the Henderson Chamber goes back 17 years when he was CEO
of a gaming company. It was in those days that he fell in love with the chamber. And when
he started his own company in 2003, Brooks didn’t think twice about becoming involved
with the HCC.
“It’s a win-win, both personally and professionally,” said Brooks, who co-owns the
Emerald Island Casino with his twin brother, Mike. “The Henderson Chamber has great
networking opportunities, great business contacts and great people involved at every

level. I’ve experienced nothing but good things from my involvement with the chamber
over the past several years.”
In addition to his chamber membership, Brooks has been a member of the Water Street District Business Association for the
past 12 years and was the president of the association from 2011 to 2015. Currently serving on the board of directors, Brooks
works to coordinate and resolve issues that arise for small businesses in downtown Henderson and addresses the impact that
future redevelopments could have on residential areas and business districts alike.
Last year, Brooks was the well-deserving recipient of the Nobel Award. Given annually at the Chamber’s Economic

of the Henderson Chamber and its mission.
Brooks’ positive attitude toward the chamber
extends to his future leadership role. Both
honored and humbled to be taking the chairman
position, Brooks, although acknowledging that
he has big shoes to fill, promises that he’s more
than up for the challenge.
“I see nothing but great things ahead. I expect
to see continued growth like we’ve seen under
Henderson Chamber’s President and CEO,
Scott Muelrath, and his fantastic team.”
Regarding the continued success of the

Here for Henderson since 1947
Dignity Health - St. Rose Dominican is understandably proud of its legacy in Henderson, well before the city was
incorporated, and our dynamic, expanding relationship with the Henderson community today.
Our roots began with Henderson’s post-World War II legacy. The town’s future was in question when a group
of Adrian Dominican religious sisters from Adrian, Michigan purchased the former Basic Magnesium Hospital
for $1 a year for 25 years from the federal government. The sisters renamed the hospital Rose de Lima,
in honor of the Catholic saint. At the time, Henderson was a small industrial town, miles away from the bright
lights of Las Vegas.
Today, St. Rose Dominican remains the only acute-care hospital provider in Henderson, although we have
expanded to three hospitals, including one in Las Vegas. Our latest addition to serve community health needs
is the dramatic expansion of our Siena Campus on St. Rose Parkway and Eastern Avenue. The Siena Emergency
Department is already the third busiest in the Valley. This August, we open a brand-new ER, more than twice the
size of our old one. In November, we will unveil four additional floors in the new tower, adding new private rooms
and six additional operating suites. In total, the Siena Campus has almost doubled in capacity.
The Siena expansion project is far from our only effort to improve Henderson’s health. Our Barbara Greenspun
WomensCare Centers, which offer hundreds of health programs and serve more than 80,000 residents annually,
recently opened a second WomensCare Center in Henderson to further expand availability and programs.
The three WomensCare Centers offer everything from diabetes management programs to nutrition counseling to
tai chi and yoga, and many programs are free.
We also continue to enhance and invest in our original home, the Rose de Lima Campus. Rose de Lima is
undergoing an extensive, multi-year facelift with a long list of improvements. We want our customers to
immediately sense the difference our focus on patient experience, and the best-possible outcomes, makes the
moment they visit our campuses.
Decades since our founding, we remain supporters of the Henderson Chamber of Commerce, and one of our
executives, Teressa Conley, serves on the Henderson Chamber Board of Directors. We are proud to remain one
of your longest-standing members.

Active Role in Helping

Brad Miller, HDA Chair & General Manager of RC Willey Home Furnishings
It’s no accident that the City of Henderson has grown from

residents in 2015. That kind of exponential growth takes
vision, planning and a business climate poised to support
strategic economic development. In the City of Henderson,
those ingredients came together like a favorite recipe in the
city’s longtime partnership with the Henderson Chamber
of Commerce, which is celebrating its 70th anniversary
this year.
Through the efforts of the HDA, the Henderson Chamber of
Commerce takes an active role in meeting with businesses

Henderson businesses grow.

HCC
Large Enough to Be Relevant
2015 Legislative Committee Members: Stan Olsen, Olsen Strategic Group, and Aviva Gordon, Esq., Gordon Law
The Henderson Chamber of Commerce isn’t only a place for community members to benefit from
networking. The chamber is also a platform that provides political representation of its members,
not to mention the greater Henderson community. It has been proven that small businesses have
a stronger voice when used collectively through the Henderson Chamber’s advocacy efforts.
The three committees of the HCC, the Issues Mobilization Political Action Committee (IMPAC),
the Business Issues Committee and the Legislative Committee, represent chamber members on
a state, county and local level.
IMPAC serves as a comprehensive, non-partisan political action committee that contributes to
the creation of a favorable business climate in Henderson as it relates to legislative polices. “In
2014, members of IMPAC interviewed several candidates for legislative- and education-related
offices,” said Tim Brooks, IMPAC’s 2014 chair and incoming chair for the Henderson Chamber of
Commerce board of directors. “We endorsed 31 candidates, with 28 of them winning their race.”
IMPAC is a relatively small committee, but its numbers don’t stop it from having an active role
in the legislative process. In 2015, members of IMPAC interviewed and endorsed candidates
in the Henderson City Council municipal elections for the first time in the chamber’s history.
34
35
“Serving on the IMPAC Committee is a big commitment for a condensed period of time,” said Aviva
Gordon, a member of all three committees, about IMPAC. “What we do is a very diligent and deliberate
process. As a result, HCC members have a strong and credible voice to the policy makers and voters.”
During Nevada’s legislative session, the Legislative Committee meets on a weekly basis with its lobbyist,
Rocky Finseth of Carrara Nevada. Committee members painstakingly parse through hundreds of
bills to determine which ones might affect their community before deciding how to take action.
“The HCC was engaged at a higher level than ever before during this past legislative session,” said
Stan Olsen, 2015 Legislative Committee chair. “This year, our Legislative Committee examined each of
the proposed tax bills and insisted that they be fair and equitable. This was the case with Governor
Sandoval’s funding agenda. It was apparent early on that a tax package would pass. The question
was; ‘What form would it take?’ As a result, the Henderson Chamber was invited to sit down with the
governor and discuss not only his plan, but also our concerns and our suggested amendments. Most of
these amendments were successful.”
“We recognize that some taxes were necessary for education reform,” Gordon said, “but we wanted our
members’ concerns to be heard. The burden shouldn’t be exclusively on the back of small businesses.”
When the governor proposed a bill that would tax local businesses at a threshold of $125,000 gross
revenue, the Legislative Committee stepped up to protect small businesses. The bill was later adjusted
to a threshold of $4 million.
“Our hope was that our lobbying played some part in the Governor’s
decision to raise the threshold significantly,” Gordon said.
Congratulations
on 70 years!

Small Enough To Be Personal
Closing Thoughts
From Lisa Chao
Lisa Chao, Membership Director | HCC
The Henderson Chamber of Commerce prides itself on the relationships it helps foster. From
the friendships that build within our team, to those that extend to our greater community, the
chamber maintains an emphasis on personal connections and outreach.
Members of our chamber benefit from the many warm introductions made possible by our
contacts within our community. For instance, during lunch with Dr. Carolyn Matzinger, of the
Matzinger Institute of Healing, she mentioned she needed help with social media management.
I referred her to one of our HCC Ambassadors, Maria Bailey, who is an expert in social media
and the owner of Success City Online. Dr. Matzinger immediately hired her, and they have
been working together ever since.
In another instance, Lisa Kubena, CEO of Humiclear, mentioned that she refers business to
HVAC companies. I subsequently paired her with a local company, Bishop Air Service, owned
by Leadership Henderson graduate, Shelley Bishop. I also thought that Lisa’s product would
be ideal for new member, The Juice Standard, so I introduced Lisa to one of the owners,
Jamie Stephenson. Jamie sent an exuberant reply about the timeliness of the contact and
her interest in learning more about Lisa’s product. Finally, I paired Lisa with the manager of
Haggen’s, Pete Iovino. I am confident that Lisa’s newfound connections within the business
community will benefit her ambitions.
38
39
Another member of the Henderson Chamber, Jason Andoscia of Andoscia Architecture, told me
about his desire to get more deeply involved with specialty projects in the field of design. As a result,
I connected him with Alexia Crowley, a real estate agent of the MDL Group, who focuses on medical
offices and retail facilities. Jason’s talents are a perfect fit for Alexia’s particular niche, making
this a valuable relationship for both parties. Barbra Coffee and Kevin Gullette, who are involved in
economic development for the City of Henderson, also were in need of Jason’s services, so I sent
him to them as well. These introductions will help Jason expand his work to assist the development
of new businesses in the valley.
Here at the Henderson Chamber of Commerce, we’re small enough to be personal. We value bringing
our members together with others within the community who can help them reach their business
goals. A truly supportive community embodies the principles of connection and caring, and the
chamber strives to enact those ideas.
If you would like to join the HCC and make those
all-important connections, please contact Lisa Chao
at lchao@HendersonChamber.com or 702.565.8951.

Dear Friends,
We are proud to be a sponsor of this publication that celebrates
and congratulates the Henderson Chamber of Commerce on
70 years of operations and for spearheading the organization of
our business community while providing a roadmap to success.
Tronox has also called Henderson home for the past 70 years. A large
part of our sustainability is due to being an employer of choice in our
community. The company is dedicated to attracting and retaining
talented individuals to fulfill our need for a diverse workforce within
our very specialized industry. While pay may be the initial motivator for
some employees, we feel that job satisfaction, recognition, and benefits
are all equally as important to workforce retention.

Henderson Plant Manager
“Tronox
has called
Henderson
home for
70 years.”
A cornerstone of our company philosophy is corporate stewardship.
Through a strategic and integrated communications plan, the Tronox
Henderson plant has built a reputation as a core contributor and
supporter of the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering Mathematics)
programs in our community. It began with Tronox contributing
knowledge, funds, and equipment to the McCaw School of Mines, a
multi-million dollar exhibit at the elementary school that has provided
tours to over 90,000 students.
The Robert Taylor Elementary Robotics Club was the plant’s first
robotics venture, which has grown to support three additional robotics
programs: the Basic High School Robotics Team, the Brown Junior
High School Robotics Club, and the Pinecrest Academy Robotics Club.
The plant provides financial support, and employees volunteer time and
expertise weekly by serving as mentors to the students.
All programs are within low-income, at-risk schools that rely on
financial support for equipment and mentor volunteerism. Through the
integration of schools, donations, volunteerism, and events, Tronox is
a STEM initiative leader in the Henderson community and throughout
Southern Nevada.
We look forward to many years of continued growth in our city and
salute the leadership of our local government and community.
Sincerely,
Rick Stater
