Training Opportunities Program (TOP)
Section 30
Your work search requirements may be waived while
attending full-time, approved training.
 Application must be submitted to DUA by the 15th payable week of
benefits
 Training must be approved by DUA
 Training must be to enhance skills for demand driven jobs
 DUA does not pay for the training
 You may be eligible for up to an additional 26 weeks of
unemployment benefits while in approved training

– Be encouraged by your success
– Learn helpful strategies to meet and overcome roadblocks to reemployment
– Failure to attend this meeting and comply with program requirements may cause
a delay or loss of your unemployment benefits.

Workforce Innovation and
Opportunity Act (WIOA)
 The federally funded Workforce Innovation and Opportunity
Act (WIOA) Title 1 ITA Program is for individual job seekers
who need occupational skills training in order to successfully
re-enter the workforce.
 Training needs can be identified through LMI
exploration, job search, and/or interview processes.
 Career Centers can help you identify training opportunities,
connect with training vendors and educational institutions,
with information on how to access funding such as financial
aid.
General Eligibility Requirements include lived or worked in the following Service Area
Abington, Avon, Bridgewater, Brockton, East Bridgewater, Easton, Hanson, Stoughton, West Bridgewater,
and Whitman.

On-the-Job Training (OJT)
 OJT is an “earn as you learn” training program designed to help
you gain employment for which you are not yet fully qualified.
We reimburse a % of
your gross wages to an
employer if they hire you
as a trainee.
OJT Training is limited in
duration based on the
training needs of the
participant and
requirements of the job.
 OJT CANNOT be funded after hiring takes place.

Trade Adjustment Assistance (TAA),
Trade Readjustment Allowances (TRA)
 If your job has been adversely affected by foreign
competition or production or the service you provided
moved overseas, you may be eligible
for benefits including:
‒ Financial assistance for job training
‒ Extension of Unemployment Benefits
 Strict deadlines apply for obtaining some of the benefits
under the TAA Programs. For additional information
and/or to obtain a listing of TAA certified companies ask a
Career Center staff person immediately about these
benefits.

National Emergency Grants (NEGs)
National Emergency Grants (NEGs) assists Dislocated
Workers who are affected by large scale layoffs caused
by unexpected economic events.
 NEGs helps Dislocated Workers by temporarily
providing funding assistance for training and employment
programs.
