for completion of future assignments. You cannot get access to your Hazard
City assignments through other Pearson URLs
First, make sure you have
these 3 things…
Email: You might get emails from Prof.

Course ID: MGEOLALTANER73633
Access code or credit card: The
required access code comes with your
book if you purchased a NEW
textbook. (NOTE: Used copies likely will
not have a working access code.)
Alternatively, you can purchase both the
eBook and access to Hazard City in
MasteringGeology for $48 directly online.
There is an option to get access to Hazard
City in MasteringGeology without the
eBook for $15.
Next, get registered!
1. Go to http://www.pearsoncustom.com/il/ui_masteringgeol118/.
2. Click Register Here if you are redeeming an access code that came with a new printed version of
the fourth edition of the textbook. Click Purchase Access with eText if you are selecting BOTH
the electronic version of the textbook (fourth ed.) and access to Hazard City in MasteringGeology
Web site (fifth ed.) for this course. Click Purchase Access without eText if you are selecting
ONLY access to Hazard City in MasteringGeology Web site (fifth ed.) for this course (because you
purchased a used textbook without a redeemable access code). Note: You cannot upgrade your
account to include the eText if you change your mind later in the semester.
Please note the Hazard City in MasteringGeology Web site is the fifth edition and the eText
(Natural Hazards by Keller and DeVecchio) is the fourth edition.
3. Create a new Pearson username/password, or, if you’ve already registered for another Pearson
product (i.e. MyMathLab), enter that username/password. If you have an Access Code, enter it on
the bottom of the page.
4. On the next page, fill out the appropriate information fields then click Next. If you entered an
Access Code, you will be brought to a page from which you can access your product. If not, enter
your payment information so that you can Purchase Access, after which you’ll be granted access.
5. You are now registered! Now, it’s time to enroll in your course. Click Log In Now. Once signed in
you can: enter your Course ID (MGEOLALTANER73633) and your U of I NetID (first part of
your e-mail address). Remember that Hazard City is used only in four of the Web Exercises (#2, 3,
4, and 6).
