To make the passport, help the students fold both pages in fourths. Place the passport cover page, folded in half with the cover facedown, on a table. Place the other page, folded in half, on top (so Lesson 4 and 5 boxes face up with the open edge down). Staple the pages in the center crease and fold into a passport. Fall is an exciting time—school starts again, autumn leaves change color, and a new quarter begins for learning important truths about God. We encourage you to keep Sunday School and church a part of your family’s schedule. Partnering with You The Fall Quarter begins with an introductory survey of the Bible, in which your child will learn how the books of the Bible fit together as a whole. Bible lessons then focus on the four main events and people in the book of Genesis. Your child will learn about God’s creation of the world, what it means to be made in God’s image, and how Adam and Eve’s disobedience brought sin into the world. Lessons on Abraham will help your child discover what it means to follow God, and two lessons on Jacob will encourage your child to live honestly and yield to God. Finally, lessons on the life of Joseph will teach the concept that we can trust God no matter what happens in life. Review with Your Child This quarter’s memory verses are listed on the back of this page. Please help your child learn the weekly memory verse by reviewing it at home throughout the week. A sticker will be added to your child’s Truth Traveler’s Passport after he or she recites the verse in class the following week. Show an interest in your child’s activity pages and devotionals in the Truth Traveler’s take-home papers. Encourage him or her to retell the Bible story. Your child will certainly benefit from your guidance and involvement in the study of God’s Word. Sincerely, (teacher) Weeks 1–3 Creation This unit focuses on how the Bible fits together and how the world was created. Your child will learn not only how great God is but also what it means to be created in the wonderful image of God. Weeks 4–7 Fall and Flood The Bible stories in this unit begin with the first sin in the world, followed by the worldwide flood and the tower of Babel. Your child will learn that the solution to sin is the gospel of Christ and that God is both gracious and just. Weeks 8–13 Abraham to Joseph Your child will learn to follow God from the examples of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob in the last six lessons. The life of Joseph will teach your child that he can trust God no matter what happens. After thirteen weeks, your child will have completed an overview of the book of Genesis and will know about its four main events and people. Middler Student Book • Fall Quarter 2012 Note to teacher: This book is perforated so you can tear out each page, work through it in class, and send it home with the student.
