The PSU Internal Auditing Education Partnership (IAEP) The internal auditing program at Pittsburg State University is one of a select group of elite programs worldwide to be officially endorsed by the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA). The IIA Kansas City Chapter, prominent business organizations, and professional leaders support the PSU IAEP by sponsoring internships, contributing scholarships, providing other forms of financial assistance, and serving on the IAEP Advisory Board. PSU has received the IIA’s CIA Academic Outreach Award multiple times for actively promoting the Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) program. Students majoring in accounting, information systems, economics, finance, management, marketing, technology, health sciences, and other business-related fields benefit from participating in the IAEP. IAEP Candidates: Compete for internships and scholarships specifically earmarked for students enrolled in the IAEP Complete a challenging and contemporary curriculum Join the IIA and network with business professionals by participating in the IIA student chapter and IIA KC chapter activities Earn nationally-recognized IAEP certificates of completion IAEP candidates develop knowledge and skills needed by all business professionals and gain relevant credentials that set them apart from their peers. Internal auditors work in all types of organizations and provide independent assurance and consulting services that add value and improve their organization’ operations. To gain admittance to the program, a student must meet the following requirements: 1. Achieve an overall GPA of at least 3.0 in the college/university coursework completed up to the time (s)he applies. 2. Submit a written application (i.e., this document) which must be approved by the IAEP Coordinator. 3. Join the IIA Student Chapter (IIASC) by submitting a completed IIASC-IAEP Membership Form to the IAEP Coordinator and paying a $5 membership fee per semester ($10 per year). 4. Apply for membership with the IIA ($70) and the IIA Kansas City Chapter (#048) and inform the IAEP Coordinator in writing that the membership application has been completed. IAEP Certification Requirements: Continued participation in the IAEP is conditional. To remain in good standing and earn an IAEP Certificate of Completion, an IAEP candidate must meet the following requirements: 1. Maintain an overall GPA of at least 3.0.* 2. Achieve at least a 3.0 GPA in the four internal auditing prerequisite courses.* 3. Achieve at least a B in each of the two core internal auditing courses and the elective course.* *A student not meeting requirement 1, 2, or 3 above will be dismissed from the IAEP, but may apply for readmission to the program if (s)he subsequently fulfills the requirement by retaking courses and/or raising his or her GPA to 3.0, as applicable. 4. Join the IIA Student Chapter ($10 per academic year), and the IIA and the IIA Kansas City Chapter ($70), and actively participate in Student Chapter activities while an IAEP candidate. IAEP students are required to participate in at least four IIASC activities per semester, one of which must be an IIA Kansas City Chapter meeting. A student failing to meet the established criteria will first be put on probation. A student will forfeit his or her IAEP status if participation is not improved to a satisfactory level during the specified probationary period. 5.
