IOWA CENTRAL COACHING STAFF Luke Moffitt - Head Coach Coach Moffitt is in his ninth year as the Head Coach of the Tritons with a career coaching record of 90-15 (89-5 vs. Junior College opponents). He was named Regional Coach of the Year in 2006, 2007, 2008, and 2009, and National Coach of the Year in 2006, 2007, and 2009. Coach Moffitt’s teams were NJCAA National Champions from 2006-2010, 4th in 2011, and 7th in 2005. They also won the National Dual Championships in 2007, 2008, 2009, and 2010. Coach Moffitt was a member of the 1999 and 2000 Iowa Central wrestling teams. He was the 2000 NJCAA National Champion at 141 lbs. and named a NJCAA 1st Team All-American. He went on to wrestle at the University of Iowa and wrestled two seasons for the Hawkeyes. While at the University of Iowa he was a Big 10 Champion, named Outstanding Wrestler of the Big Ten Tournament, and a NCAA National Qualifier. Coach Moffitt has a B.A. degree in Elementary Education from the University of Iowa. Mark Rial - Assistant Coach Coach Rial is in his 3rd year as an assistant coach for the Tritons. Coach Rial was a two-time Iowa State High School Champion, a National qualifier for the University of Northern Iowa at the 2001 NCAA National Tournament, placed 7th at the 2004 Olympic Team Trials, placed 4th and 5th at the 2005 and 2006 U.S. Nationals, placed 3rd at the U.S. World Team Trials, and was a champion at the 2008 United States Greco-Roman National Championships. Coach Rial earned his degree in General Studies at the University of Northern Iowa in 2001 and currently also works in the Advising Center at Iowa Central. Mark and his wife, Lindsey, have two children, 4-year old son, Trace and 6 month old son, Parker. Troy Bennett - Assistant Coach Coach Bennett is in his 17th year as an assistant coach for the Tritons. Coach Bennett was a member of the 1992 Iowa Central Wrestling Team where he placed second in the NJCAA National Tournament. He was also named to the NJCAA First Team All-American 1992. He went onto wrestle at the University of Northern Iowa where he was named to the Second Team All-Region in 1995. Coach Bennett earned a B.A. degree in Secondary Education at the University of Northern Iowa and he is currently employed in the Fort Dodge Public School System. Troy and his wife, Shawn, have three children: 15-year old daughter, Madison, 13-year old, Drew, and 8-year old, Tory. Kit Hovey - Volunteer Coach Coach Hovey is in his 3rd year as an assistant coach for the Tritons. Coach Hovey was a member of the 1984-85 Iowa Central Wrestling Team before transferring to Iowa State University. While coaching for Iowa Central, he has coached 18 All-Americans, 5 National Champions and helped the team to three consecutive top five finishes. Coach Hovey currently runs his own business, Hovey Construction, in Fort Dodge.
