Course description:
This course covers the politics of the People’s Republic of China, including background

an emphasis on the patterns and dynamics of political development in twentieth century

prospects for democracy, the relationship between Beijing and the provinces, the
interactions between ideology and policies, as well as the issues of Hong Kong and
Taiwan.
