Agency: Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS)
Factory inspection? NO
The BIS Rules require a valid test report (not older than 90 days)
from any BIS recognized test laboratory to be submitted while
applying for Compulsory Registration. The laboratories aspiring to
test under the scheme must seek recognition from the BIS.

Malaysia: Safety
• Safety regulations fall under the domain of the
Malaysia Energy Commission (Suruhanjaya Tenaga)
• Information booklet of electrical equipment lists
mandatory products, requiring CoA
• Manufacturer’s local representative must be the COA
approval holder
• Labels must be purchased by the approval holder.
Authority may inspect to make sure products are the
same as the products approved

 The ‘regulation’ separates household equipment into ‘prescribed’ and
‘non-prescribed’
 For a non-prescribed product, the following will be accepted as a
certificate of safety compliance:
a) declaration of conformity issued by the product manufacturer; or
b) declaration of conformity issued by a "recognized manufacturer";
c) certificate or test report issued by a "recognized certification body".






For a prescribed product, only the document as stated in either (b) or
(c) above will be accepted as a certificate of safety compliance.
