Please take a few moments to consider your participation at one of Asia’s
biggest wine shows – the Hong Kong International Wine & Spirits Show.
This is an opportunity to participate with a shared display organised by
Winestate Magazine - Australia and New Zealand's leading private
international wine marketing service - to be held in Hong Kong from 7-9
November 2013.
During this week Winestate will be present boutique wines that may have no
or only limited overseas exposure opening up a world of opportunity for the
businesses! In addition it is an ideal way of stretching your marketing
budget - for the cost of an advertisement in Winestate you also gain
international exposure for your brand!
Doing Business in China and Hong Kong
China and Hong Kong are unlike any other markets in the world, where your
future importer or buyer may not be in a "traditional" wine business. They
could come from any industry or business or business contact you make. Some
may even come through a local association or private club contact. The show
may also provide an opportunity to meet business owners and influential
people from all walks of business life.
Hong Kong has a quite "mature" wine culture whereas China often has very
little wine understanding outside some of the first tier cities (Shanghai,
Beijing, Guangzhou). With over 6 million people in Hong Kong and 1.3 billion
on the mainland, the potential market size is vast.
Whilst no guarantee of securing or even meeting the right buyer or
distributor is given or implied, it is important in our view winery owners
or sales executives investigating this market make this first step - this
Trade Show is designed to introduce you to the market potential of the
region.
Marketing Assistance
Winestate will arrange invitations to our data base of contacts in Hong
Kong, along with the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) to assist
with planning and appropriate potential introductions.
The September / October 2013 issue of Winestate will be shipped to the event
venues - your promotion and branding in this publication will be an
important sales tool (brand awareness). Winestate will also have stocks for
you to give away at the trade show.

Wine Quality, variety and price point - we suggest premium quality with a
retail price of approximately USD $25 or more.
Wine required - Selected wineries will be required to ship (or carry with
you) a minimum of 8 bottles of each wine (that you may wish to promote) to
Hong Kong prior to the Mission commencing.
Customs and Shipping - Wineries will be responsible for any shipping costs
to Hong Kong. Hong Kong is a duty free port - no taxes are normally levied
on table wine going into Hong Kong.
As at 1 February 2013, two litres (3 bottles) can be usually carried into
China duty free (should you wish to visit Shanghai or other mainland China
cities after the Hong Kong activities). We encourage you to seek advice from
your travel agency prior to entering China regarding this matter and visas
etc.
Transport Agency – Winestate will arrange a consolidated shipment from
Australia (ex Adelaide) and New Zealand (ex Auckland) with Mainfreight
International.
Marketing Material - Wineries should include in the wine carton at least
50 brochures, your agents (or your) business cards (if you have an agent in
Hong Kong or China).
Cost - The cost for a winery to participate will be only AUD $3,290 plus
GST.
Previous Exhibitor Discount Available – If you have participated in a
Winestate Trade Mission or Trade Show (eg Vinitaly) in the previous 12
months a 5% discount will automatically applied, and your ad size will be
upgraded to a Half Page Vertical at no additional cost
What is Included:
Trade Show Site (Shared) – Winestate will organise a complete display site –
all the winery will need to provide will be wine samples, business cards and
an optional pull up banner (if desired).
Advertisement - Each winery that is approved to participate will be provided
a one-off (display) advertisement in the September / October 2013 issue of
Winestate Magazine of one THIRD PAGE VERTICAL space valued at $3300 based on
your copy and artwork as part of the package (subject to timely supply of
required materials).
Agents and Distributor Support - Your agent / distributors are welcomed to
attend. All referrals can be passed to your local distributors, or will be
referred back to you. Please advise your instructions when confirming your
attendance. Please include your local agents business cards with your wine
that is sent to the Trade Mission. **If you don’t yet have a distributor in
the region please remember this could an ideal way to find one!
Sales Executive Attendance in Hong Kong - This Trade Show is designed so
your winery has the potential to be introduced to as many qualified buyers
as possible. If a winery has a sales representative at all tastings and
events, better sales results may be achieved. The person attending should be
prepared to attend a minimum of the 3 days at the Trade Show and at least 1
other event during the week in Hong Kong, as well as networking / meeting
possible contacts each day.

Passport and Visa - If attending, your Sales Executive should have a valid
Passport with 6 months validity. No Visa is required to enter Hong Kong for
Australian or NZ Passport holders. If your Sales Executive wishes to enter
China (Mainland) before or after the Trade Mission they should obtain that
Visa well before departure.
Marketing Material - Once confirmed you will be asked to provide technical
details, and a bottle image to our office so we can produce marketing
material for events in Hong Kong.
Air Travel - If you wish to attend you must arrange your own travel and
accommodation at your own cost.
If you are travelling to Hong Kong direct you can usually carry your wine
with you (in aircraft hold, but excess luggage charges may possibly apply
depending on airline and ticket class). We advise to speak with your travel
agent on this matter.
Export Funding / Grants - Participants may be entitled to a Federal
Government rebate/grant. Also all costs of participating in such activities
(including air fares and accommodation) are normally a tax deductable
business expense for Australian businesses, although some restrictions may
apply. You should seek your own advice regarding these matters.
