CANCELLATION
POLICY:
Registration cancellations must be received in writing at the NLADA
office no later than July 1, 2003. Cancellations and refunds are subject
to a $30 administrative charge. University policy requires advance
payment of housing and meal costs by NLADA. Therefore, fees paid
toward housing and meals are non-refundable, if the cancellation is
received after July 1, 2003. After the July 1 deadline, registrations fees
(not housing fees) are transferable, less a $30 administrative charge, to
another NLADA training event scheduled before December 31, 2004,
but are not refundable. Registration cancellations postmarked after
September 30, 2003 are neither refundable nor transferable.
Substitutions may be made at any time prior to the event. Please notify
NLADA of substitutions in writing. If a track is full, or is canceled due
to low registration, you may change tracks. If you choose to cancel,
NLADA cannot be held liable for any travel expenses incurred.
WEATHER:
The summer weather in Southern California varies. Typical daytime
temperatures in LA can range from mid-70’s to high 80’s during the day
and drop into the 60’s in the evening. It is suggested that participants
bring sweaters and/or lightweight jackets for the meeting rooms and
evenings.
CLE:
NLADA has applied for continuing legal education credits in most states
that have mandatory CLE requirements. CLE forms, instructions, and a
list of accrediting states will be included in the on-site registration
packets.
RECREATION
FACILITIES:
The package room and meal package includes complimentary access to
recreation facilities on campus, which include: swimming pools, weight
rooms, tennis courts, racquetball courts and handball courts.
ACCESSIBILITY:
All of the meeting rooms and residence rooms are accessible.
However, we need to know if you have special requirements in order to
assign meeting rooms and lodging accommodations appropriately. It is
your responsibility to inform us. Phone Aimee Gabel at 202/452-0620
x214 with your requirements as soon as possible.
NON-SMOKING
ROOMS:
The University of California has adopted a no smoking policy in all
public areas. This includes meeting rooms, sleeping rooms, hallways,
lounges, restrooms and dining rooms.
EXPERIENCE LA!
Since its beginning, LA has lived on the cusp of a trend, always reinventing itself – from Mexican outpost to agricultural Mecca to
boomtown movie colony to high-tech aerospace hub to the new
economy. LA reaches new horizons every day. Cultures from around
the world rub elbows and join hands in fusions of language, fashion
and food. This cultural celebration also means LA has more stage
theaters (80+) and museums (300) than any U.S. city. With
metropolitan LA at more than twice the size of Switzerland, you can be
sure there’s plenty to explore.
For added convenience, traveling to and around downtown has never
been easier. The MTA's 300-mile subway and light rail system—the Red
Line, the Green Line and the Blue Line—all lead to downtown. The
Metro Rail is further enhanced with various stations along the Red Line,
including stops at Hollywood and Vine, Hollywood and Highland,
Universal City and North Hollywood.
