Health Education vs Motivational Interviewing in Hispanic College Light Smokers
The primary of aim of this pilot study is to assess the impact of baseline motivation and
counseling style toward quitting smoking in Hispanic college student light smokers. The study is
a randomized two-condition design to assess if counseling style moderates the relationship
between motivation and cessation at six months. It is posited that MI will be more efficacious in
low-motivated light smokers, and HE will be more efficacious in high-motivated light smokers.
