BUZZKILL CAST DANIEL RAYMONT as Ray Wyatt Daniel Marcus Raymont is a chameleonic performer whose acutely observed impersonations have fooled just about everybody he’s met. His work reflects his family background: one-part Dallas royalty, another part Latin American socialist. Born in New York, and raised by his Texan mother and GermanicArgentine-Mexican father in Mexico and D.C., only to spend time in Maine, London, Boston, San Francisco and Los Angeles, he has recently moved to Brooklyn where he plans to grow roots with his Japanese-Irish wife. His TV work includes a recurring role in the Nickelodeon show, The Naked Brothers Band, the ABC sitcom, The Knights of Prosperity and fox’s New Amsterdam. Film work includes Watching the Detectives (which screened at the Tribeca Film Festival), My Name is Nigel Cook, The F word, and Freaky Friday. Daniel is currently performing his solo show The store based on his ten years at Neiman-Marcus, Beverly hills. Its seven characters revealed in thirty minutes. He has also appeared in countless commercials including Heineken, Visa, and Burger King (as Ugoff). When he is not fooling your eyes and ears by appearing as a Transylvanian one minute then a Frenchman the next, he spends his time developing a men’s clothing line using high quality Italian fabrics at a Brooklyn factory run by a Czech Holocaust survivor. Co-writer and director Steven Kampmann says of Daniel: “a total pro, gifted, dedicated to the work but not his ego, a joy to collaborate with, a skilled improviser - a leading man who has been waiting in the wings whose performance in Buzzkill not only carries the film but makes it work in ways I never thought possible. “ DARRELL HAMMOND as The Karaoke Killer Actor/comedian Darrell Hammond fondly recalls his first taste of show business at age five practicing the impressions of his family members on the porch of their home in Melbourne Florida. It wasn’t many years later when Darrell realized he wanted to submerse himself in the pursuit of bringing his comedy and impressions to a much bigger stage. For seven years now, Hammond has brought to life a cavalcade of politicians, media figures, celebrities and news makers on television as a Saturday Night Live cast member. Darrell is known for being one of the most prolific comedians of his time. In addition to SNL, he frequently tours comedy clubs and theaters, boasting a wide array of brilliant impressions. Each and every one of his impressions have been applauded by critics and viewers alike, for their accuracy and range. In fact, Darrell’s impression of Al Gore was so powerful that it was said the former Vice President studied Darrell’s gestures in preparation for the Presidential debates. Amongst the great number of other people he mimicks are Bill Clinton, Sean Connery, Regis Philbin, Dan Rather, John Travolta, Jesse Jackson, Richard Dreyfus, Jay Leno and Ted Koppel. Darrell also displayed a small handful of his famous comedic characters on last year’s telecast of the Primetime Emmy Awards. In addition to appearing in sketches, Hammond has been seen in a number of feature films and television shows, displaying his talents in both dramatic and comedic roles. Most recently, he has finished sBob Bailey’s Disco Balls. He has also starred in Warner Bros’ New York Minute opposite Mary Kay and Ashley Olsen and in the Dimension feature Scary Movie 3. He received tremendous reviews last year appearing as a deranged but intense criminal defense lawyer in Dick Wolf’s Law and Order: SVU. His other film credits include an appearance in Universal’s Blues Brothers 2000, Disney’s Celtic Pride, and the voice of Master Little in Disney’s animated hit The King and I. Although it has been a dream come true for Darrell to be a regular on NBC’s Saturday Night Live, one of Hammond’s biggest honors came at our nation’s capital in April 1997. During a surprise appearance with President Bill Clinton, Hammond was widely praised by the media for his dead-on impression of the President at an event before a great number of government officials and members of the Washington Press Corps. In an equally as impressive fete at 2001’s White House Correspondent Dinner, Darrell received a standing ovation for his performance in front of 2000 press people and President George W. Bush. Darrell continues to move audiences with his comedy, performing in New York and throughout the entire country. Most recently Darrell gave Comedy Central its biggest ratings to date for a 1/2 hour comedy special performing in his own Comedy Central Presents: Darrell Hammond. Hammond is a proud resident of the Hell’s Kitchen area of Manhattan. MIKE STARR as Agent Brady Mike has had long and successful career as a supporting actor on the small screen and the silver screen. She traveled the world going from Tokyo to Barcelona, from Milan to London and Paris seeing sights most girls can only imagine at a young age. With energy to spare and a New York downtown style all her own, Krysten has captured the hearts of many, including director Kenneth Lonergan, who was so taken by her that he wrote her a part in his upcoming film, Margaret, which features Anna Paquin, Matt Damon, Matthew Broderick and Mark Ruffalo. Her credits also include her off Broadway debut in All This Intimacy at 2econd Stage Theatre Uptown and received glowing reviews for her performance. When Krysten’s not working she spends her time playing the guitar, taking acting classes, and writing. She is also a member of a rock band called Ex-Vivian. Other film credits include The Couch Trip with Dan Aykroyd and the cult classic Clifford starring Martin Short. His Christmas film, Special Delivery, debuted on the Fox Family in December 2000. DIRECTOR’S NOTES ON BUZZKILL On writing: Matt and I began writing Buzzkill with the ending as well as the scene where our central character discovers the Karaoke Killer reading and liking his script. Those two elements fueled us to figure out the rest of the story. We wanted to write an original script, avoiding clichés as much as possible, but we soon realized that I wasn’t that original and Matt is a walking cliché. So, it took a long time to write Buzzkill. The most amazing fact about writing Buzzkill is I wrote 92 percent of the script but Matt insists he penned 86 percent and yet not only are we still talking to each other but we’re still writing together. Go figure. On casting: In his audition, Daniel completely fooled me, tricking me with his phony British accent so convincingly that I actually hired him to play a writer from “over the pond.” And, yes, I can’t imagine another actor in the role and, yes, he was thoroughly fun to work with, dedicated, funny, kind, and wickedly talented, but, nevertheless, I will never forgive him for his initial deceit. On Directing: I suppose I am more writer than director because without story and the word on the page, there is little to direct. THOMAS H.
