February 6, 2015 Counseling Center News!! SCHOLARSHIP REMINDERS! Heritage Bank: The Heritage Bank Scholarship Fund will reach across 29 high schools throughout Western Kentucky and Tennessee. We will award $500 scholarships based on the number of senior students enrolled. Applications are available in the Counseling Center. The application deadline is February 9, 2015. Twelfth National Co-Op Scholarship Application: Students interested in attending one of the nine WACE Partner Institutes should complete the National Co-op Scholarship Program Application including a typed one-page essay (300-wods) describing why you have chosen to pursue a college cooperative education program. World Class – The Mediacom Scholarship Program: Mediacom Communications is again offering $1,000 non-renewable scholarship to senior high school students in areas of 15 states. DAR Scholarships: Daughters of the American Revolution award approximately $150, 000 annually in scholarships. Vegetarian Resource Group Scholarship - Due to the generosity of an anonymous donor, The Vegetarian Resource Group each year will award $10,000 in college scholarship money to graduating U.S. high school students who have promoted vegetarianism in their schools and/or communities. CEMC Senior Scholarship Program: Ten graduating high school seniors (from CEMC five county service area) will be awarded $1,000 academic scholarships. Military Family Support Trust Scholarship – We are a tax exempt, 501(c)(3), charitable organization of military families past and present working together to help high school seniors obtain college scholarships and to meet the critical unexpected financial needs of our eligibility group. Scholarship Opportunity – The Scholarship Committee of Rho Mu Zeta is accepting applications for the Annual Scholarship Program for school year 2015-16. The American Legion Eagle Scout of the Year in Tennessee – There is a $3,000 scholarship from the American Legion Department Headquarters for the Eagle Scout of the Year in Tennessee. The winning nomination is sent to The American Legion National Headquarters to be entered in the nation-wide Scout of the Year contest. The first place scholarship is $10,000 and there are three $2,500 second place scholarships awarded on the National level. Applications are available in the Counseling Center. The MOAA Scholarship Fund: Interest-Free Loan and Grant Program provides interest-free loans and grants to students (under age 24) who are children of former, currently serving, or retired commissioned or warrant officers (Regular, Reserve or Guard), for up to 5 years of undergraduate education at an accredited 2 or 4-year college or university of their choice. https://scholarship.moaa.org/login.aspx. Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation: The Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation is the Nation’s oldest and largest provider of need-based scholarships to military children, with particular attention given to those whose parent has been killed or wounded in combat, or who have demonstrated financial need. Since its inception in 1962, the Scholarship Foundation has awarded over 30,000 scholarships valued at more than $80,000,000. In the 2013-2014 academic year, the Scholarship Foundation has awarded more than $6,600,000 in scholarships to 2,040 students. Goizueta Scholarship – The Georgia State Office of Latino Student Services and Outreach are accepting applications for the prestigious Goizueta Scholarship. Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. – The Minority Scholarship is designed to assist deserving minority students with purchasing books and other supplies for college. Each scholarship recipient will be awarded $1,000. This scholarship is available to all minority students (African American, Pacific Islander, Hispanic/Latino, Native American, Asian American), who meet the scholarship requirements. Scott Memorial Scholarship Fund – This scholarship fund was established in October 2001 by family members of the late Janice Marie Scott to honor her legacy as an advocate for youth and a supporter of community services within the Greater Metropolitan Area of Washington, DC. Mrs. Scott was among the 125 individuals who perished in the Pentagon on September 11, 2001 when terrorists crashed American Airline Flight 77 into that building. The scholarship selection committee uses a “Need” category as a primary means for selecting recipients of scholarships. Additional information and applications are available in the Counseling Center. Mickey Fisher Memorial Scholarship – one scholarship is awarded per school year to a graduating senior who meets the qualifications and plans to enroll at Austin Peay State University. The scholarship will be based on academic achievement and extracurricular and community involvement – not financial need. The scholarship may be used for tuition, room, board and/or fees charged by Austin Peay State University. Applications are available in the Counseling Center. The application deadline is March 31, 2015. The Fort Campbell Spouses’ Club awards scholarships to graduating dependent children of active-duty, retired or deceased military personnel of all ranks. Applicants must be enrolled or plan to enroll full-time in college (undergraduate) or vocational school. The military sponsor of the applicant must live within 40 miles of Fort Campbell. Applicants whose sponsors are on unaccompanied tours may, on a case-by-case basis, be granted a waiver of the 40-mile requirement. Applications are available in the Counseling Center. The application deadline is March 31, 2015. The David E. Hinton Scholarship – this annual scholarship was created in 2002. It is available to a qualifying High School Senior in the Clarksville-Montgomery County School System who plans to attend Austin Peay State University and major in an agriculture related field (AgBusiness, Ag-Science, Environmental Studies, Pre-Vet, and Pre-Forestry). The David E. Hinton Scholarship is for $1,000 ($500 per semester) and is payable to Austin Peay State University. Applications are available in the Counseling Center. The Clarksville Civitan Club Western Grizzard Memorial Scholarship to Austin Peay State University – an academic scholarship to Austin Peay State University, renewable for up to three years (maximum of two semesters per academic year). This scholarship pays $500 per semester (payable directly to APSU) and is available to a graduate during the current school year from a high school in the Clarksville-Montgomery County School System.
