Dow-Key Microwave Corporation Job Description for Controller Summary: Plans, develops, monitors and evaluates the financial operations of a business unit including accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, preparation of financial statements, financial forecasting and budgeting. Plans, develops, monitors and evaluates the information technology operations of a business unit including centralized operating systems hardware and software governing data processing and storage, telecommunications and business productivity applications Generally, this position requires department level responsibility for developing and meeting financial plans, business information systems plans and communicating with senior management and supporting departments to ensure a financially viable organization. Typical Responsibilities: Participates in segment and local strategic planning processes Hires, motivates and evaluates the work of professionals and non professional accounting and information technology staff Prepares operational budgets, reviews budget proposals and prepares necessary supporting budgetary documentation and justification Establishes or recommends major business unit economic strategies, objectives and policies Develops and enforces business unit financial and accounting policies and procedures as well as policies and procedures to support the Corporate Code of Conduct and Ethics program Prepares monthly business unit financial statements and reports Facilitates yearly and ad hoc audits of financial records, policies and procedures Develops and enforces policies and procedures with respect to import/export regulations Makes recommendations regarding hardware and software acquisitions to support operations of the business unit Monitors the use of company owned information technology and communication systems Knowledge Skills and Abilities: A four year degree in Accounting, Business Administration or related field; preferably coursework in Computer Science Five to ten years experience managing and supervising the accounting and financial reporting functions of a business unit and at least one year of experience managing an information technology function at the supervisory level Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principals (GAAP), Financial Accounting Standards (FAS) and Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) regulations Certified Public Accountant designation preferable Knowledge of current and applicable hardware and software technologies in support of business operations
