The handouts on each section, flashcards and worksheets should provide excellent study guides. La casa y los quehaceres: basic household furniture, rooms in the house and and the household chores, handout p. 163-162. Expressions with the infinitive: to have to do something: tener + que + infinitive; going to do something: ir + a + infinitive to just have done something: acabar + de + infinitive (see worksheets in addition to above chapter). Verbs for cleaning, food, etc. (see attached verb list) Plates, utensils and how to set the table (poner la mesa), with the prepositions “a la izquierda, a la derecha, sobre or encima de, arriba de, debajo de” The basic fruits. What a “naturaleza muerte” is and how to draw and describe one (p. 179 of handout). The verbs traer and poner. The basic meals and foods in each category (p. 128 of handout). Café vocabulary and how to order food and in which order (handout, p. 132. worksheet). The prepositions “antes” (before) and después (after). Cultural differences: what is eaten in Spain v. Nicaragua (La comida en otras partes, p. 146) and other customs, such as the “mesón” and “los tunos.” ( p. 148). It is assumed that you will know material that has been covered in the past, i.e., numbers, colors, months, seasons, days of the week, expressions of time, expressions with “tener,” descriptive adjectives (alto, feo), possessive (mi, tu), etc. Exam Format The exam will be similar to other quizzes and tests, so make sure you look over all your tests and worksheets. It will consist of some of the following: 1. verb conjugations 2. vocabulary word translation 4. sentence translation 5. questions in Spanish 6. filling in the correct verb conjugation 7. choosing the correct word 6. a short essay or dialogue on ordering food or what you like to eat.
