ELECTION OF REGIONAL OFFICERS: One of the highlights of the spring conference is electing regional officers. The officers to be chosen are PRESIDENT, VICE PRESIDENT, SECRETARY, and REPORTER. A local chapter may have NO MORE THAN ONE CANDIDATE for a regional office. Remember, if you run someone for state office, you MAY NOT also run a candidate for regional president. The regional officer application form can be found online at http://www.longwood.edu/business/44840.htm and is due by Wednesday, February 26. We need excited, capable, and hard-working FBLAers to run enthusiastic campaigns. (See the FBLA State Handbook for the Duties of the Regional Officers.) CAMPAIGN SPEECHES: Candidates will give their campaign speeches at the Opening General Assembly at 3:00 p.m. Candidates running for the office of President will be allowed four minutes for campaign presentations. The other candidates will have three minutes for campaign presentations. The time allowed includes the entire campaign presentation--campaign manager and candidate speeches, skits, etc. Campaign materials may be displayed at registration, but must be removed when registration is over. VOTING: Each school is allowed one vote for every ten members plus one for the President. The school must register all voting delegates the day of the conference; for example, if your school is allowed 6 votes and you only registered 5 students, then the school can only cast 5 votes. The candidate receiving a simple majority wins. The newly elected officers will be installed at the evening session. DRESS CODE: All FBLA students are required to wear appropriate business attire for the conference. Check your FBLA State Handbook for a copy of the dress code. Students who do not meet the dress code are not allowed to walk across the stage to receive awards. Please have an alternative student collect the award if necessary. All students will be required to wear a name tag. 5 The name tag should include student name, name of high school, and name of event. If the student is not competing at Longwood you may indicate workshop participant.
