The association prepares students for the business world by promoting leadership, increasing understanding of American Free Enterprises, establishing career goals, encouraging scholarship, promoting efficient money management, and developing character and self-confidence. FBLA activities encourage career development, civic service, economic education, community involvement and business advocacy. WHAT DOES AN ACTIVE MEMBER DO? Pays membership dues and receives a quarterly leadership magazine and a quality association. To compete at Winter Conference, dues of $20 must be paid to the ASB Office and the receipt given to Ms. Knight by October 31 to ensure turn-around time with the National office. Talk to me about financial hardships to work out a plan. Participates in chapter business and meetings—Club time, on-line, written communications, "Member of the Month" and the "Ready, Set, Recruit" state programs (see www.wafbla.org). Earns a Business Achievement Award (BAA) sponsored by the national FBLA office. Organizes and volunteers time towards community service activities planned by our chapter Plans and participates in fundraising to support chapter activities and to earn travel money for self and chapter. Prepares for competitive events and competes at conferences. Attends/Competes at Capital Region Conferences—Fall Leadership and Winter Competition.
