I will assign one simple project of each example …earrings, pin, bracelet… for you to get your feet wet in the process but each of you will do your own designing for any further projects. I will encourage, but not insist on bezeling at least one of the woven “simple pieces” with a copper bezel Day 1 We’ll weave and fuse a sheet of copper that will be used for earrings and pins. We will also start and some will complete a pair of earrings. Students can bring gold or silver wire for posts or French wires Day 2 We’ll weave a sheet of heavier gauge for bracelets. Everyone will make a bracelet, at least one simple one and begin and/or finish one more complex Day 3 Pin Day. We’ll use the woven material from the copper sheet made on the first day to fabricate at least one pin…one simple one…cut out, bronze braze and bezel one that will require more fabrication. Day 4 We’ll weave several copper beads using copper wire and I’ll show a technique I call knotting with steel. We’ll also design and fabricate a pendant Day 5 Students will finish up the first 4 days work and may design their own project – pendant, necklace clasps, beads – whatever. I will be happy to work through these ideas with you so you can complete them in your own studio. Students, keep watching the website and our tools & materials list for possible future updates.
