Reliable, clean, powerful: the new BERU Ultra X Titan spark plug
Spark plugs are the heart of modern internal combustion engines. With the
world innovative Ultra X Titan, BERU is focusing on Titan-Power, ignition
reliability and optimum fuel economy.
Ludwigsburg, 29 April 2008 – How many drivers today still worry about the condition of their
spark plugs? Very few. Criminal negligence. On modern vehicles it is essential to check the
complete ignition system regularly. After all, spark plugs are the “Hidden Champions” under the
hood and are crucial for the correct operation of a gasoline engine.
The “unsung heroes” must withstand extreme loads while the engine is running. The
combustion chamber can expect temperatures up to 3,000 degrees Celsius, pressures up to 50
bar and an ignition voltage up to 40,000 volts. Therefore, the driver who does not have his spark
plugs checked regularly at his garage due to a false sense of economy risks serious
consequences: from poor cold-start behavior to engine damage. For example, if sooted spark
plugs cause misfiring, unburnt fuel may flow into the catalytic converter and damage it. If
misfiring increases, the catalytic converter may be completely destroyed.
Therefore: Spark plugs are wearing parts and must be changed regularly. Only spark
plugs which function optimally and are changed at the intervals stipulated by the vehicle
manufacturer ensure high ignition reliability and an environmentally friendly, reliable combustion
of the mixture in summer and winter.

BERU Ultra X Titan. A world innovation for optimum fuel economy
Here the BERU Ultra X Titan is moving into new dimensions. Your Poly-V J-type
electrode developed by BERU consists of an extremely erosion-resistant nickel-titanium alloy,
its innovative geometry providing a highly reliable ignition together with optimum fuel economy.
The profile of the J-type electrode consists of five ignition tips which control the ignition sparks
alternately. The erosion-resistant Titan electrode combined with the tapered ignition tip of the
center electrode guarantees a reliable ignition performance, low emission values and an
outstanding cold-start performance over a long period.
Another guarantee for a reliable ignition is the corona discharge of the new BERU Ultra
X Titan. It effectively prevents the so-called electrical shunt between high voltage and electrical
ground which can occur due to electrically conductive soot, especially when the engine starts.
Advantage: The gasoline engine starts even under the most extreme conditions; for example at
extremely low temperatures or after several short trips.
The new Ultra X Titan range from BERU is now available from vehicle parts outlets and
garages.
