CLT Meeting – 8/5/14 Present: Brad Knetsch, Dave Nyitray, Betsy Bascom, Sarah Fox, Jackie Baber-Bay, Amy Gregory, Nalini VDB Guests: Sean Johnson-Moore, Jermale Eddie Absent: Eric Taylor 1. Check in – highs/lows 2. Prayer – led by Pastor Brad 3. Sean - Reaching Out Update - - - Email from Berniz (Community School Coordinator at Gerald R. Ford Academic Center) today was encouraging. Wants to continue working together this year. Current FOT members are disbanding (moving away, other commitments, etc.), so instead there is going to be solid teaching and leadership development for leaders twice a month on Sundays, led by Sean. One of the goals here will be to develop outreach leaders from these trainings. In the past, Student Servants was focused primarily on discipleship first and job second. This ministry started with around 12 students but over the course of this year, students have left. Currently, there are a few focused student servants and now with the help of Allen, they will be raising the bar of job expectations. F.R.E.S.H Word is the central part of Reaching Out and will continue until it gets darker outside. Prayers are needed for what physical space we can use outside. 2 Other New Ministries: Proverbs 31 for Women, Timothy 4:8 for Men Sean also shared his personal goals: spending more undivided time with his family, financial progress, and wedding planning. He expressed his desire to develop naturally as a leader first, and will continue to think about further schooling. He will also strives to be filled up with fitness and music… it’s what energizes him. Dave prayed for Sean - Thank you!! 4. Dave shared his grace story (Betsy, Amy, and Sarah did last CLT meeting) 5. - Jermale - Reaching In Update Really inquired about Madison in general as well as Nursery/Children’s Ministries. Identified SWOT Analysis, asked good questions, and is thankful Joanna is on staff now. Will really start to focus on Small Groups, with Men’s and Women’s Ministry to follow. Working on signage, better hospitality toward first-time guests especially and newcomers class coming up in October. Personal Goals: Vacations, devotions, reading, identifying a prayer shield, true Sabbath, spiritual growth, setting up a schedule, health/wellness Betsy prayed for Jermale - Thank you!!! 6. Ed DeVries Update - The CLT is encouraging him and/or Pastor Brad to present an update to the congregation as soon as possible. We’re thankful for all the work Ryan has been doing and the congregation is in need of knowing what the process is as well as a potential timeline for developing 415 Franklin as the new home for Ford Campus.” - Because a number of Ford Folks are in the community on Wednesday Nights for Fresh Word Bible Study, Pastor Brad is going to encourage the congregation to join us in continuing to pray over the space at 415 Franklin. - For the month of August, Pastor Brad and others are preaching four sermons called, “Love Your Neighbor: The Stranger / The Hurting / Cross Culture / Across Religions”. In preparation for the Fall, on Sundays August 31, Sept 7 and 14, Pastor Brad will be preaching a vision series called, “Fuel the Fire.” Our vision is, “To be a Diverse Community Following Christ Together” and our mission is Reaching Up, Reaching In, Reaching Across, and Reaching Out. In this series, we will revisit and continue to clarify and spread the vision of the Ford Campus. It is necessary that we continue to lead with vision so that our future space reflects the vision of our church. 7. Thankful for new staff member, Joanna DeMoor-Tannor! 8. Jason Botbyl’s Commissioned Pastor Status Pastor Brad was encouraged to keep it simple. The congregation already knows Jason, knows his heart, and the CLT feels confident that the change in title will be enthusiastically supported.
