To request this flyer in large print, audio format, e-text, Braille, etc. contact SDR.
Welcome to the California State University Monterey Bay (CSUMB) office for Student Disability
Resources (SDR). Follow these tips for successful transition to CSUMB and SDR.
STEPS FOR SUCCESS: Plan ahead!
□ Request the SDR Prospective Student Packet. Return your Needs Assessment and detailed
documentation of your disability, or download from the Forms page at csumb.edu/sdr. Some student
requests for accommodation may take 3 to 6 months to determine eligibility and/or implement.
□
Need help with college, career planning and/or job placement due to disabilities? Apply online or
in person for the CA Department of Rehabilitation Vocational Services at www.dor.ca.gov. Eligibility
and service agreement may take 3 to 6 months. Also, apply for Financial Aid at financialaid.csumb.edu
□
Follow the steps for “After You are Accepted” at http://csumb.edu/admissions. Before the CSU Entry
Level Math and English Placement Test registration deadline, request your disability accommodations.
Study guides are available online and at many bookstores. You may take these tests at another CSU. Ask for
your scores to be transferred to CSUMB. More test info is at http://ar.csumb.edu/ Take them early!
□
Register in advance and attend campus-wide new student orientation, advising, and course
registration events. Ask for disability accommodations if needed: http://csumb.edu/orientation
□
Register for courses through My.CSUMB.edu. Tips and deadlines are at: http://ar.csumb.edu/
□
After you register for courses, call and sign up for group SDR New Student Orientation. Also,
schedule a private appointment with an SDR advisor to request accommodations for your disability.
□
Apply early for assistance such as Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) and Student Support
Services (SSS) if you plan to be a freshman or sophomore and have a low income or are a first generation
college student: http://eosp.csumb.edu/student-support-services
□
If you plan to bring a computer, obtain suggested hardware and software specifications at
http://it.csumb.edu/software/. A list of assistive software available in CSUMB labs is at http://cat.csumb.edu
□
Learn to use MyCSUMB email. Tips are available at http://it.csumb.edu/
