The Great War Web Quest
Objective: To study the effects of the Great War on different nations and
individuals
Procedure: Using the following internet resources, answer the following
questions to the best of your ability. These are extensive websites with literally
thousands of documents, keep searching and you will find what you are looking
for!

1) Propaganda: Locate at least TWO examples of propaganda from at least 2
different countries. Examine the propaganda and a) describe what you see, b)
explain what message you think this piece is trying to express.

3) Memorabilia: Find at least four different examples of soldier’s and/or civilian’s
memorabilia from World War I. This can be many things: a personal account of
the war, a poem, a couple of photographs, a song, a poem, a letter, a description
of weaponry/uniform worn by soldiers of a particular country. For each piece,
explain where and when this memorabilia came from and why you think it is
significant. No one word answers! Each piece should have several
sentences of explanation!

Still more time? Explore and describe one of the following topics of your
choice: World War I Weaponry, World War I Battles, and World War I
famous people. You may also choose to go into more depth on any of the
previous topics.
****Extra Credit***: Using the information you have gathered and images you
print up or draw, create a scrap book page from the perspective of a World War I
soldier or civilian. In your scrapbook, explain what country you are from, and
include several artifacts gathered during the webquest to show what your
experience of “The Great War” was like.
(If this is very well done, I will drop a zero, or give 3 homework passes. If done, but not
spectacular, I will give extra points accordingly)
