Its seems like months since the last rally, as we had to cancel the May 31 st rally at the last minute!
But, we are on this Sunday and it should be a great rally! We hope to have the September rally date
set by the weekend also, so we can let you know when we plan to run.
The Central Zone Lowden Shield Gymkhana is coming up, and this year is being hosted by the
Woodend Pony Club at the Woodend Racecourse. It is only about an hour away for kids who want to
ride. For this event, all riders placing go towards a Points System with the club gaining the most points
taking home the Shield for a year! Not only does this even show classes, but games that are against
the clock!! So if you don’t think you could make a good show rider, head up for some games as all
points will count! (Entry details attached)
It has been great to see lots of kids out at Pony Club events representing the club! Even other clubs
were asking at a recent event who all the kids in brown jumpers were!! Keep up the good work guys,
and keep the results rolling in! The results section is PACKED this month which is great to see!!
Already another year gone, and we have the Annual Two Day Horse Trials coming up!! Planning for
the event is already well under way, and we hope to see all parents help in some way as this is the
clubs only major fundraiser for the year!
We have scored some great new instructors for the club, and have a previous instructor coming back,
so please make them all feel welcome!
The BEDS (Barwon Equestrian Dressage Series) has started again, with Sarah L and Jaime S already
out there cleaning up! As Sarah has finished PC, she wont be able to compete at the rest of this years
Events, but Jaime is looking at making the entire series this year! Last year we were the only club in
Central Zone to make it into the Top 5 Club for the series, so lets hope we can get higher again this
year!!
See you all Sunday!!

WPC 2009 HORSE TRIALS!!
Yes- it is that crazy time of year again when
we commit ourselves to running the largest
PCAV Horse Trials in the Southern
Hemisphere! All riders entries this year are
being taken online, and details can be found
on the club website,
www.werribee.ponyclubvic.org.au
If you are interested in competing this year,
please complete a form at the July or
August rally, so we can make sure we have
a place for you when the entries start rolling
in.
As this is the clubs ONLY fundraiser for the
year, and we have 450 riders, we do require
all parents to help with the event..
Rider Certificates’: Junior and Associate club
members are encouraged to take a series of
PCAV Efficiency Tests and Certificates as they
progress through Pony Club. These are
designed to ensure that these club
members undertake elementary studies in
riding, horse handling and horse care. There are
eight standards or levels of efficiency; "D", "D"
star, "C", "C" star, "B", "B" star and "A" (the
highest) with two specialist tests –"K" for the
active rider and "H" for the horse mastership
test. D & D* will be worked on a club level,
with C certificates and above needing to have
to sit and ride a series of tests for a fee. Just a
reminder to all riders that are 14 years and over
and have been with the club for more than two
years, must have there C certificate to ride at
State Level Competitions. D, D* and C
certificate manuals are available to purchase
at rallies for $15.
Hi All Pony Club Parents!
The Parents Roster tasks will now be allocated alphabetically so everyone is helping just a little bit instead
of the same parents at each rally. I hope you will all support the club and your children by adhering to the
roster each month.
If for any reason you are unable to fulfill the tasks, I would ask that you organize/swap with another parent
and please let me know, a week before the Rally, (via e-mail cbrad@unimelb.edu.au) , or phone
0407567295, so I can adjust the roster.
All parents are welcome to swap with another parent as much as they like, we will not be counting how
many times you help out but we would like to know we can rely on you to ensure you have someone
allocated.
I believe this may be a much fairer way of distributing the work load and ask that you give me any feedback,
suggestions, etc if you have any problems.
The Parents Roster will be sent with the Newsletter the week before the Rally and we intend to have 3
months in advance listed, so that all parents can organize their involvement.
