Who is calling? Trained interviewer from the Center for Survey Research at the
University of Virginia. We are working with the Virginia Dept of Emergency
Management to better understand how residents of the National Capital Region would
react to an emergency in the area.
What do you want? We are calling to invite qualified residents to participate in a focus
group on Tuesday, January 11. It will start at 6:45 p.m. The group will last about 2
hours and we will offer you $35 as a thank you for participating. We will talk about
family care issues and how they fit into workplace priorities. There will be light
refreshments.
Who is eligible?: Adults who are working full or part-time and who have at least one
child in school or daycare outside the home.
How were participants chosen to be contacted? Those invited to participate were
randomly chosen from a list from the telephone directory or agreed to be contacted about
further research after a survey of NCR residents last year.
Where is this group meeting?: The focus groups will meet at the University of
Virginia’s Northern Virginia Center, 7054 Haycock Road, Falls Church, VA 22043
The Center is easily accessible from I-495, I-66, Route 7, and is adjacent to the West
Falls Church Metro (orange line).
What you will do: You would participate in a group meeting run by a trained facilitator
from the Center for Survey Research at the University of Virginia. CSR’s involvement is
to promote fair and impartial discussion. The facilitator will present topics for
conversation and you will have ample opportunity to share your input.
Parking
Parking at the Northern Virginia Center is currently $4.50 per weekday, cash
only. Show us your parking ticket and we will reimburse you!

The Northern Virginia Center is located at 7054 Haycock Road in Falls Church and is
easily accessible from I-495, I-66, Route 7, and is adjacent to the West Falls Church
Metro (orange line).
From I-495, take exit 47B (Route 7 East) for two miles, passing under Route 66. Turn
left at the next major traffic light onto Haycock Road. At the next traffic light, turn left
onto the access road for the West Falls Church Metro Station. Building is on the left.
Follow the signs for University parking.
From I-66, exit onto Route 7 East towards Falls Church. Turn left onto Haycock Road.
At the next traffic light, turn left onto the access road for the West Falls Church Metro
Station. Building is on the left. Follow the signs for University parking. Please note HOV
restrictions may apply.
From Route 7 East, turn left onto Haycock Road. At the next traffic light, turn left onto
the access road for the West Falls Church Metro Station. Building is on the left. Follow
the signs for University parking.
METRORAIL: Take the Orange Line to the West Falls Church Station. The Northern
Virginia Center is located approximately 200 yards from the Metro lobby, across the
parking lot. For route and fare information, visit www.wmata.com.
BUS: MetroBus and the Fairfax Connector make stops at the West Falls Church Metro
station. Route information may be obtained from Metro at (202) 637-7000, or for the
