Opportunity for our students to use telehealth and electronic medication reconciliation which healthcare providers us to show that someone has not taken their medication. 3.3 BS to BSN 3.4 Health Folders – Sign In and Out of Office A large piece of th grant will be used get desktop conferencing. To be used for Heatlh Coaching. Bedsides Health Coaching the equipment can be used for meetings in real time from anywhere with the software. We will have our own server so any lecture, meeting, etc. can be recorded and can kept as a link. It is a Polycon system. Multiple training sessions to be conducted. Next phase will be to figure out sustainability and work with office of technology 3.3 Dr. Carruth elicited feedback on purposal to BoR for Southeastern Louisiana University SON to go from a BS to a BSN. Board of Regents requested every school in the state to be BSN. We sent documentation to the state saying we will be BSN around 2008-2009, but the process was not finalized. In our self-study, we had to say BS with a major in Nursing as that was the way we were documented with BoR. We are the only BS in the state. Any thoughts on that? Discussion about difference between the two – Dr. Carruth noted no difference. All same amount of nursing courses. Our students say they have their BSN and don’t really know they have a BS. 3.3 Motion made to change to BSN. All said “I.” No oppositions. No abstentions. Motion passed. 3.4 There was a previous rule about taking folders from Baton Rouge to Hammond, but over the past two years the office has made every attempt to accommodate that transport for faculty. However, please do not take them away from either the Hammond or BRC locations – such as do not take them to clinical. If you are working with a lecturer, please do not let 3.4 If there is a problem with Health Folders, let Dr. Creel know. The office is still working on Lakeview’s folders, but all others should be ready to look at and review. Page 3 SOUTHEASTERN LOUISIANA UNIVERSITY School of Nursing Full Faculty Levels Meeting Minutes them take the folders away from the physical location. This will prevent us from losing them or compromising student confidentiality. This is the student’s personal information and we must be careful with it. IV. Discussion about support for smokers: Smoking Cessation Trust – qualify smoked before September 1, 1988 and a resident of Louisiana may qualify for smoking cessation interventions – which may include prescription medication. Students can be seen at the Health Center and they will work with them on smoking cessation, but not employees of the university. 5.2 ADA – Time and a Half Testing 5.2 Dr. Creel discussed Students who have accommodations for time and a half testing and faculty may be misinterpreting the meaning of “time and a half “. A typical time for a multiple choice question is one minute/question. Faculty who give an hour and a half for a tests with 50 questions – have given the entire class “time and a half.” The student with Page 5 5.2 Be clear when you start your test – what “time” is and when “time and half” is for that test. If more writing intensive, you decide its more per question, you may need to rethink the time. SOUTHEASTERN LOUISIANA UNIVERSITY School of Nursing Full Faculty Levels Meeting Minutes accommodations is not entitled to an additional half time. Students are very confused. You may give the whole class time and a half. 5.3 Grade Appeal Process – Graduate/UG 5.3 Dr. Creel clarified a grade appeal process. If you do have a student, the grade appeal should be to the faculty first. Only a formal letter of formal appeal should be accepted (not emails.) Faculty should respond to them in a formal letter. Next the student may appeal to the department head and then the dean, there needs to be appropriate (formal) documentation. Need to discuss about what 10 days means with breaks included. Teachers have a holiday and will not get their mail until they return to school, and it may have been ten days after until they read the letter. Discussion about the “10 day” response time. Facutly would like clarification 5.4 Curriculum 5.3 You have 10 working days to respond. Does not include weekends. Can send to Dr. Creel to double check it your response is concerned. Clinical eval tool – discussion about the excessive number of pages. Dr. Creel indicated we must have a hard copy for student academic records. Faculty must print them out. Can change the font or print front to back to save paper. Change margins 5.41 The tools all need to have the 4 yes/no questions completed. 5.42 Course Evals 5.42. Course evals can be created on Moodle or Survey Monkey. MEllis suggests Survey Monkey. If faculty need help, ask around. The sites on Survey Monkey should be kept confidential as it is used for graduate and faculty research. Course report: Curriculum worked last semester to make these easier. Revision on Moodle, under the folder for Curriculum Committee and Course Report, there are two forms, one for clinical and one for theory. Instructions have been shortened. There are six questions. 5.42 Look for email from Sandra Williams Page 6 SOUTHEASTERN LOUISIANA UNIVERSITY School of Nursing Full Faculty Levels Meeting Minutes Question: Can the ATI report be added directly to the course eval form or must it be transposed? 5.43 Curriculum Retreat – Fall – Content Mapping 5.43 Curriculum proposes a a curriculum retreat in the fall for content mapping of the curriculum as a whole. Please download all grades from all classes that semester (not just class failed) as the student will need to present this documentation when they appeal. The committee looks for a trend across the whole semester. If they have this at the time of appeal it doesn’t result in deferrals and allows them to complete the appeal process faster. 5.82 5.9 M Burke shared: Email was sent yesterday, past funds for prints in the library are no longer available. 5.9 Please report all equipment breakage in the simulation lab.
