Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? 26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27 Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life? 28 “And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. 29 Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 30 If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith?” –Matthew 6:24-30 24 1. Who have you have worried so much that you think you may have taken a year or so off your life expectancy? C. Is there anything more valuable to you than staying alive? Will worrying contribute to the thing that you value more than your life? 3. Why is that significant to you? F. What’s the issue with worry? How does it relate to us trusting God? 4. How to put it into action: A. Worry is a waste of time. Life=time. When you start to get attached to something that you have no control/uncertainty over, tell yourself, “I’m not going to worry about that because it is a waste of my life. That’s like throwing away my life. I’m not going to throw away my life worrying about [that]” B. Do what we can do and trust God to do what we can’t. Ask yourself, “ Have I done all I can do in the now? Then trust God for tomorrow.” C. If the emotion of worry is associated with a devotion of life, ask yourself, “What are you most devoted to? Look at what you worry about the most” Shift your worry by shifting your devotion. If my worry pinpoints my devotion, what am I truly most devoted to? Is that really life? If it’s not really life, maybe it shouldn’t hold such control over my devotion. D. Read Matthew 6:24-30 5.
