Position will work closely with account executives and will be responsible for commercial inventory and proofing of logs; however, position will also be required to cross-train for back-up coverage in continuity. SDLocal (KFMB & LMSD) SOCIAL MEDIA SPECIALIST *NEW POSTING! We are searching for a Social Media Specialist to manage the social media and web presence for SDLocal’s five radio stations, which represents Local Media San Diego (91X, Z90 and Magic 92.5) and KFMB Radio (100.7 JACK FM and 760 AM). This position will report directly to the Social Media/Content Manager and will collaborate with the Sales, Promotions, and Production teams to develop marketing and communications plans that leverage the digital space for all five diverse radio stations. Candidates must have prior experience as a blogger or social media community manager and a solid understanding of current digital marketing best-practices and digital production processes. Candidates must also possess excellent grammar and writing skills, including a basic knowledge of AP style. This position will require frequent evening and weekend work and/or occasional holidays and requires someone that is high-energy, LOVES music, and that can speak to a wide variety of audiences on multiple social media channels about a wide range of current topics. Experience with WordPress, Google Analytics and/or photo/video editing skills is a plus. KFMB STATIONS-CBS News 8 (KFMB-TV) WEATHER ANCHOR CBS News 8, San Diego’s top-rated station is looking for a full-time weather anchor position for our weekday morning and 11AM newscasts. Position requires strong communication skills and the ability to tell a compelling weather story in a clear, visual, and engaging manner. Proficiency with weather technology, maps, and graphics, including applications for digital and mobile platforms, is also required. Position may also handle live interviews, remote reporting, and public speaking. Minimum of three years commercial television anchoring experience is preferred. A meteorology degree is a big plus. Candidates must possess a current valid driver's license and be able to provide proof of current automobile insurance. KFMB-FM RADIO PROGRAM DIRECTOR San Diego’s Hot-AC, KFMB-FM / 100.7 Jack FM is on the lookout for a Program Director to plan and oversee all on-air programming, music scheduling and production. We are looking for someone with a creative vision and the ability to evaluate current programs for ways to enhance the current listener audience while working with promotions, marketing, sales and interactive departments to develop new strategies and campaigns to gain demographics and maximize ratings. Position will direct and monitor programming and activities in conformance with FCC rules and regulations and Station policies and will also be required to: Monitor and evaluate music selected for the Station; Approve all commercial and paid programming content; Audition, hire, develop and coach on-air talent; Schedule staff for on-air shifts, remotes and appearances; and Prepare and maintain the FM Programming department’s budget. Candidates must have prior programming experience, solid knowledge of all FCC rules and regulations and possess strong social media skills. KFMB STATIONS – San Diego, CA DIRECTOR OF ENGINEERING (DOE) KFMB Stations has an immediate opening for a Director of Engineering to oversee the onair presentation and technical aspects of KFMB Station’s television station (CBS News 8 (KFMB-TV), a CBS affiliate in San Diego), as well as our two local radio stations (KFMB-AM 760 and 100.7 JACK FM). Position will oversee and manage all engineering functions, including broadcast operations and digital distribution systems, studio and remote field operations, transmitter, master control, tower operations, equipment, building and operations maintenance, IT, security, engineering personnel management and budgets/capital planning and maintenance. Position will be required to develop and implement current and long-range technical operation plans with an emphasis on emerging technology and competitive ENG to support all television and radio broadcast operations, including the identification, evaluation and implementation of technical installation and equipment needs, as well as recommendations regarding technical and/or support systems requirements for existing operational infrastructures and future technological developments. Position requires a solid understanding of both television and radio broadcast requirements, including on-air servers, broadcast equipment, automated news production, master control operations, ENG, DSNG and other on-air operations. Knowledge of the following areas is also required: Fundamental principles, uses, capabilities, and limitations of television broadcasting equipment, including advanced digital technologies; Principles and applications of electronics in production and transmission of live and/or recorded transmissions of program material; Principles and practices of broadcasting and television and radio station administrations; State of the art technological advancements in broadcast equipment, systems, and related software; OSHA and FAA regulations; FCC regulations regarding TV and Radio broadcasting and related records, reports, and procedures. Previous broadcast engineering management experience (5+ years) in a television production and/or broadcast facility, including responsibility for projects relating to technical operations and equipment is required. Previous television broadcasting experience required. Previous radio experience is preferred. SBE certification is also preferred. Bachelor's Degree with a major in radio/television broadcasting, electronic/electrical engineering or a related field is also required. KFMB STATIONS INTERNSHIPS: KFMB Stations- CBS News 8 CBS News 8’s internship program is intended to assist students who are interested in pursuing a career in the broadcasting industry. Internships will provide students with an opportunity to learn about television broadcasting as well as hands-on experience in the newsroom. Selected candidates will work closely with producers and will assist with various functions such as researching story ideas, writing scripts, retrieving video and working in the control room to bring the news to our viewers. We are looking for interns who are committed to a career in broadcasting and have already completed some prior journalism courses. Prior media-based internships and/or previous work experience in the broadcasting industry will also be taken into consideration when evaluating applicants. Juniors and seniors are preferred. KFMB Interactive Media KFMB Interactive’s internship program is designed for students interested in pursuing a career in online journalism and learning how a news website is created, updated and sold on a daily basis. Selected interns will learn how to update and edit stories for cbs8.com, as well edit and post video using a content management system. Candidates will assist the content manager and editors with daily news updates, as well as complete an individual project that will be determined during the course of the internship. Internship candidates must have an interest in online journalism and have completed some journalism classes. Juniors and seniors are preferred. Knowledge of content management systems and web writing experience a plus. Prior online or media based experience and/or internships will be taken into consideration when evaluating applicants. Candidates must be available 10-15 hours/week. KFMB RADIO PROMOTIONS Internships are available in Radio Promotions to help students gain work experience in radio promotions, including general administrative duties and the coordination of promotional events. Candidates must be able to drive themselves to/from remote locations and be able to lift 30-40 lbs. Internship hours are flexible but may involve weekends and holidays. KFMB- AM Internships are geared toward a better understanding of radio programming, including show preparation, production, call screening, and technical assistance during live broadcasts. Candidates must be available 10-15 hours/week. Previous experience in public or commercial radio is helpful. Internships are unpaid and therefore interns must be enrolled in a college or university internship program that provides school credit in exchange for no pay. Candidates must be able to provide proof of credit prior to starting their assignment.
