FMS 2010 Analysis FMS in a NUTSHELL The test of FMS was of 200 questions, as it was already declared before the test. On the contrary, there were 175 questions asked in 2009. With questions being rounded off to 200, the sections were also made equal with four sections containing 50 questions each. The sections were easy, moderate or difficult as a whole. IRA was very easy and one could solve 18-20 questions easily within the time limit of 25-30 minutes. MA was easy and again one could solve 20-22 questions within 30 minutes. EU and VA was moderate and required good proficiency to solve the questions. Those who had solved the wordlist had an upper hand as direct questions of synonyms and antonyms were there. Paragraph correction was a bit difficult. The section of RC was difficult in terms of length of RC. There were 4 RCs with number of questions 6, 7, 13 and 24. As the RCs were very lengthy one could solve any one of the 2 RCs with maximum weightage ie, the RC of 13 and 24 questions and one RC with 6 and 7 questions. In 30 minutes one could solve 17-20 questions. Overall attempt could be 80 to 90. There was a passage of over 5 pages and with 24 questions! Some questions were direct but otherwise required to understand and comprehend the paragraph to answer the questions. SECTION II: Mathematical Ability This section was very easy and within the time limit of 30 minutes, one could easily select some sitters and solve around 18 questions. It was heavily algebra based with some questions each of geometry, numbers, arithmetic, logarithm and functions. It was based on fundamentals and didn’t require too much of calculations. The practice of questions from various mock tests and section tests could have given advantage and one could have increased the attempts in this section. Error corrections and other variety of EU were easy to moderate. There was one or 2 cases of DI which were difficult on calculation part. Other variety of reasoning were unconventional in MBA entrance exams but were easy to solve.
