Dr.N.N.Ramesh, B.E., ME., Ph.D., LMISTE Principal, CMR
Engineering College is an able administrator with rich experience of 25
years in research and academics. He has a vast teaching experience at
various colleges. At his credit there are two International Journals
Publications, three international conference papers and nine national
conference papers. His area of interest includes Heat Transfer,
I.C.Engines, Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning, CFD, Renewable Energy etc. He has
guided B.Tech and M.Tech students for their projects. He has been guiding Ph.D
scholars. He is life member of Indian Society for Technical Education, Member of
ISO 9002 monitoring committee. He is a visionary leader who enjoys in creating a
learning environment, which motivates and inspires all the aspiring students to
excel. As a versatile administrator, he is an adroit team player with good
interpersonal skills, who recognizes the positive aspects amongst all the staff and
students while ignores their negatives and expresses appreciation for every

Dr. K.V.Reddy M.Sc., M.Ed., Ph.D., HOD, Department of Humanities
and Sciences (B.Tech I year department) of CMR Engineering College
has a rich teaching experience of 20 years in various educational
institutions at UG and PG levels. He has published several research
papers in national and international journals. He also possess
administrative experiences as involved other duties such as I/C
transport, student affairs and a member of BOS of other reputed
colleges in the city. Having taught several subjects in the field of
chemistry and chemical engineering besides setting of all the chemistry labs in full
fledged manner such as analytical lab, organic chemistry, physical chemistry, Engg.

Computing Facility
CMREC has IBM Server, xeon 2.4 GHz x2 and 10 thin clients. The labs also include
special purpose mini-labs such as hardware lab, operating and networking lab,
English Communications Lab, DBMS Lab, UML Lab etc. All faculty members and
students have unlimited access to the PCs.
All the systems in each department are connected in LAN which in turn is linked
with the Institutes –Campus Area Network (CAN). The file server provides NTFS file
services. Internet connectivity is provided with 2 Mbps link leased from Apollo
system. The institute is hosting a full-fledged website, http://www.cmrec.org

STUDENT REGISTRATION
Students have to fill in the registration forms at the beginning of each academic year
accompanied by their parents. The registration forms will be provided by the
Academic branch. Administrative Officer will guide and provide necessary
information.
A Counseling form with details of marks & credits secured will be issued to students
of II-B. Tech onwards and parents will be appraised of the student’s performance and
progress at the beginning of each academic year.
PAYMENT OF FEES
Students will have to pay the fees as per the schedule announced. Late fee will be
collected from students after the due date. The drafts / cash may be deposited in the
Accounts Branch.
DOCUMENTS
1. ID card: Students will be issued identity cards at the time of admission in admin
office. Students should wear the identity card as long as they are in the campus.
2. Gate Pass: Students should remain in their classes till the completion of the college
timings. In case they want to leave early, they must obtain a gate pass from the
Department Heads’ office and take permission from concerned Department Heads.
3. Bonafide Certificate: The Academic branch will issue Bonafide certificates for bus
passes and other purposes to the students of the college. Students have to write an

application to the Principal and get the same forwarded by their respective
Department Heads.
4. Bus Pass: APSRTC bus pass applications must be attested by the Principal.
5. Notice Board: Students need to see the College notice boards, Department notice
board and Lab notice board regularly.
6. Original Certificates: The Original certificates of each student will have to be
deposited with the college and the same will be returned after the completion of the
course.
7. Memorandum of Marks: The memorandum of marks of a particular year / semester
will be issued once they are received from the University by the Examination branch
staff in the counters specified
FACILITIES
1. Infrastructure: College has well built separate blocks to house each department. There
are spacious and well-ventilated classrooms, staff rooms and other amenities. Girl’s
waiting Rooms with lockers is provided.
2. Physical Education & Sports : Students are encouraged to engage in physical
education and for the overall development of personality. They are encouraged to
participate in inter college competitions and also offer themselves for selection to the
University team.
The Cricket, Volley ball and Football grounds and the indoor sporting faculties are
provided. An annual Sports day will be conducted and prizes will be awarded to teams
and individuals who prove their mettle.
Gym: Spacious well ventilated gym with ultra modern equipment which enhances the
physical fitness is established to encourage the staff and the students to maintain good
health.
3. Canteen: College Canteen provides delicious and hygienic food at very affordable
prices. South Indian, North Indian and Chinese food both Vegetarian and Non
Vegetarian is available.
4. Transport: The College runs 32 buses covering all the important points in Hyderabad &
Secunderabad. Additionally several APSRTC buses also ply on the route leading to the
college. A vehicle is always kept ready all 24 hours in case of any emergency in the
college. To make the staff and students to reach the campus by 8.55 am and the leave
the campus by 4 pm.
5. Medical facilities: College has link up with a medical practitioner, who will visit the
college on every day in the after noon. Basic medicines and First Aid material is
available at all departments.
6. Scholarships: All the SC, ST and BC students can apply for scholarships subject to
fulfillment of annual income criteria. Apart from this the Institution is providing merit
scholarships.
7. ISTE (Indian Society for Technical Education): The main goal of ISTE is to serve as a
common agency for stimulating and guiding its members to formulate the general goals

8. NSS (National service scheme): NSS Unit is to inculcate the social welfare thoughts in the

education programs is to ensure the growth of skill and knowledge in the electricityrelated technical professions and to foster individual commitment to continuing education

(Effective for the students admitted into I year from the Academic Year 2009-2010 onwards
and subject to change as per JNTU, Hyderabad )
1.
Award of B.Tech. Degree
A student will be declared eligible for the award of the B. Tech. Degree if he
fulfils the following academic regulations:
i.
Pursued a course of study for not less than four academic years and
not more than eight academic years.
ii.
Register for 200 credits and secure 200 credits
2.
Students, who fail to fulfill all the academic requirements for the award of the
degree within eight academic years from the year of their admission, shall
forfeit their seat in B.Tech course.

Distribution and Weight-age of Marks
i.
The performance of a student in each semester / I year shall be
evaluated subject –wise with a maximum of 100 marks for theory and 75
marks for practical subject. In addition, Industry oriented mini-project,
seminar and project work shall be evaluated for 50, 50 and 200 marks
respectively.
ii.
For theory subjects the distribution shall be 5 marks for assignments, 20
marks for Internal Evaluation and 75 marks for the End-Examination.
iii.
For theory subjects, during the semester there shall be 2 mid term
examinations. Each mid term examination consists of one objective
paper, one subjective paper and one assignment. The objective paper is
for 10 marks and subjective paper is for 10 marks, with a duration of 1
hour 20 minutes (20 minutes for objective and 60 minutes for subjective
paper). Objective paper is set for 20 bits of – multiple choice questions,
fill-in the blanks, matching type questions – for the 10 marks.
Subjective paper of each semester shall contain 4 full questions
(one from each unit) of which, the student has to answer 2 questions,
each carrying 5 marks.
First mid term examination shall be conducted for 1-4 units of
syllabus and second mid term examination shall be conducted for 5-8
units.
5 marks are allocated for Assignments (as specified by the
concerned subject teacher) – first Assignment should be submitted before
the conduct of the first mid, and the second Assignment should be
submitted before the conduct of the second mid.
The total marks
secured by the student in each mid term examination are evaluated for
25 marks, and the better of the two mid term examinations shall be
taken as the final marks secured by each candidate.

However, for first year, there shall be 3 mid term examinations
(each for 25 marks), along with 3 assignments in a similar pattern as
above [1st mid shall be from 1-2 units, 2nd mid from 3-5 units and 3rd mid
shall be from 6-8 units], and the average marks of the best two
examinations secured (each evaluated for a total of 25 marks) in
each subject shall be considered as final marks for the internals /
sessionals.
iv.
For practical subjects there shall be a continuous evaluation during the
semester for 25 sessional marks and 50 end examination marks. Out of
the 25 marks for internal, day-to-day work in the laboratory shall be
evaluated for 15 marks and internal examination for practical shall be
evaluated for 10 marks conducted by the concerned laboratory teacher.
The end examination shall be conducted with external examiner and
laboratory teacher. The external examiner shall be appointed from the
cluster of colleges as decided by the University examination branch.
v.
For the subject having design and / or drawing, (such as Engineering
Graphics, Engineering Drawing, Machine Drawing) and estimation, the
distribution shall be 25 marks for internal evaluation (15 marks for dayto-day work and 10 marks for internal tests) and 75 marks for end
examination. There shall be two internal tests in a Semester and the
better of the two shall be considered for the award of marks for internal
tests.
However in the I year class, there shall be three tests and the
average of best two will be taken into consideration.
vi.
There shall be an industry-oriented mini-Project, in collaboration with an
industry of their specialization, to be taken up during the vacation after
III year II Semester examination. However, the mini project and its report
shall be evaluated with the project work in IV year II Semester. The
industry oriented mini project shall be submitted in report form and
should be presented before the committee, which shall be evaluated for
50 marks. The committee consists of an external examiner, head of the
department, the supervisor of mini project and a senior faculty member

of the department. There shall be no internal marks for industry oriented
mini project.
vii.
There shall be a seminar presentation in IV year II Semester. For the
seminar, the student shall collect the information on a specialized topic
and prepare a technical report, showing his understanding over the
topic, and submit to the department, which shall be evaluated by the
Departmental committee consisting of Head of the department, seminar
supervisor and a senior faculty member. The seminar report shall be
evaluated for 50 marks. There shall be no external examination for
seminar.
viii.
There shall be a Comprehensive Viva-Voce in IV year II semester. The
Comprehensive Viva-Voce will be conducted by a Committee consisting of
(i) Head of the Department (ii) two Senior Faculty members of the
Department.
The Comprehensive Viva-Voce is aimed to assess the
students’ understanding in various subjects he / she studied during the
B.Tech course of study. The Comprehensive Viva-Voce is evaluated for
100 marks by the Committee.
There are no internal marks for the
Comprehensive viva-voce.
ix.
Out of a total of 200 marks for the project work, 50 marks shall be for
Internal Evaluation and 150 marks for the End Semester Examination.
The End Semester Examination (viva-voce) shall be conducted by the
same committee appointed for industry oriented mini project.
In
addition the project supervisor shall also be included in the committee.
The topics for industry oriented mini project, seminar and project work
shall be different from each other. The evaluation of project work shall be
conducted at the end of the IV year. The Internal Evaluation shall be on
the basis of two seminars given by each student on the topic of his
project.
x.
Laboratory marks and the sessional marks awarded by the College are
not final.
They are subject to scrutiny and scaling by the University
wherever necessary. In such cases, the sessional and laboratory marks
awarded by the College will be referred to a Committee. The Committee

will arrive at a scaling factor and the marks will be scaled as per the
scaling factor.

Attendance Requirements:
i.
A student shall be eligible to appear for University examinations if he
acquires a minimum of 75% of attendance in aggregate of all the
subjects.
ii.
Shortage of Attendance below 65% in aggregate shall in NO case be
condoned .
iii.
Condonation of shortage of attendance in aggregate up to 10% (65% and
above and below 75%) in each semester or I year may be granted by the
College Academic Committee.
iv.
A student will not be promoted to the next semester unless he satisfies
the attendance requirement of the present semester / I year, as
applicable. They may seek re-admission for that semester / I year when
offered next.
v.
Students whose shortage of attendance is not condoned in any semester
/ I year are not eligible to take their end examination of that class and
their registration shall stand cancelled.
vi.
A stipulated fee shall be payable towards condonation of shortage of
attendance.
6.
Minimum Academic Requirements:
The following academic requirements have to be satisfied in addition
to the attendance requirements mentioned in item no.6
i.
A student shall be deemed to have satisfied the minimum academic
requirements and earned the credits allotted to each theory or practical
design or drawing subject or project if he secures not less than 35% of

marks in the end examination and a minimum of 40% of marks in the
sum total of the internal evaluation and end examination taken together.
ii.
A student shall be promoted from II to III year only if he fulfils the
academic
requirement
of
37credits
from
one
regular
and
one
supplementary examinations of I year, and one regular examination of II
year I semester irrespective of whether the candidate takes the
examination or not.
iii.
A student shall be promoted from third year to fourth year only if he
fulfils the academic requirements of total 62 credits from the following
examinations, whether the candidate takes the examinations or not.
a. Two regular and two supplementary examinations of I year.
b. Two regular and one supplementary examinations of II year I
semester.
c. One regular and one supplementary examinations of II year II
semester.
d. One regular examination of III year I semester.
iv.
A student shall register and put up minimum attendance in all 200
credits and earn the 200 credits. Marks obtained in all 200 credits shall
be considered for the calculation of percentage of marks.
iv.
Students who fail to earn 200 credits as indicated in the course
structure within eight academic years from the year of their admission
shall forfeit their seat in B.Tech course and their admission shall stand
cancelled.
7.
Course pattern:
i.
The entire course of study is of four academic years. The first year shall
be on yearly pattern and the second, third and fourth years on semester
pattern.
ii.
A student eligible to appear for the end examination in a subject, but
absent from it or has failed in the end examination may appear for that
subject at the supplementary examination.

iii.
When a student is detained due to lack of credits / shortage of
attendance he may be re-admitted when the semester / year is offered
after
fulfilment
of
academic
regulations,
whereas
the
academic
regulations hold good with the regulations he was first admitted.
8.
Award of Class:
After a student has satisfied the requirements prescribed for the
completion of the program and is eligible for the award of B. Tech. Degree
he shall be placed in one of the following four classes:

Minimum Instruction Days:
The minimum instruction days for each semester / I year shall be 90/180
clear instruction days.

There shall be no branch transfers after the completion of admission process.

There shall be no place transfer within the Constituent Colleges and Units of
Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Hyderabad.

Where the words “he”, “him”, “his”, occur in the regulations, they include “she”, “her”, “hers”.
The academic regulation should be read as a whole for the purpose of any interpretation.
In the case of any doubt or ambiguity in the interpretation of the above rules, the decision of the ViceChancellor is final.
The University may change or amend the academic regulations or syllabi at any time and the changes or amendments
made shall be applicable to all the students with effect from the dates notified by the University.

performance of the original candidate who has
been impersonated, shall be cancelled in all
the subjects of the examination (including
practicals and project work) already appeared
and shall not be allowed to appear for
examinations of the remaining subjects of that
semester/year. The candidate is also debarred
for two consecutive semesters from class work
and all University examinations.
The
continuation of the course by the candidate is
subject to the academic regulations in
connection with forfeiture of seat.
If the
imposter is an outsider, he will be handed over
to the police and a case is registered against
him.
Expulsion from the examination hall and
cancellation of performance in that
subject and all the other subjects the
candidate has already appeared including
practical examinations and project work
and shall not be permitted for the
remaining examinations of the subjects of
that semester/year. The candidate is also
debarred for two consecutive semesters
from class work and all University

The approved Academic Calendar for B. Tech 1st year (Regular)-2010-11
** Mid term examinations are to be conducted during both forenoon and afternoon sessions and they
are to be
completed within 4 working days as per the schedule given above.
All the midterm examinations shall be of both objective and subjective type as per the academic
regulations. Extra classes may be conducted, if required, subject to a maximum of 120 periods for each
subject
in a year.
Laboratories: Do’s and Don’ts
a. Equipment in the lab is made available for the use of student community. Students
need to maintain a proper decorum in the computer lab. Students must use the
equipment with utmost care. Any damage caused to the equipment will be
penalized.
b. Students are required to wear apron, carry their observation / program books with
completed exercises while entering the lab and should sign in log-in register.
c. Students are suppose to occupy the machines allotted to them and are not suppose
to talk or make noise in the lab.
d. Lab can be used in free time / lunch hours by the students. The students who need
to use the systems should take prior permission from the lab in-charge.
e. Lab records need to be submitted on or before date of submission.
f. Each student should bring Observation book, Graph Sheet, calculator, pencil, and
eraser etc to the lab without fail
g. After the completion of experiments, the equipment should not be tampered/
manipulated and should be switched off.

h. In case of any problem /help contact the Lab In-charge.
i. Students must be active to respond to the questions and practice the exercises.
Passive learning is not encouraged.
j. Students shall check their day to day evaluation after the lab.
k. Lab records can be purchased from the respective labs.
l. All the students are required to bring drawing instruments including drawing sheets
to every class without fail. Borrowing is not allowed.

Students admitted into this College, are deemed to have agreed to the rules and regulations of
the college as laid down by the College Authorities from time to time, and the rules laid down
in this booklet, issued at the time of admission.

Students are expected to be regular to the classes. The students absenting for classes
without prior approval, shall be levied with a fine of Rs. 5/- for absent period along with
marking of absent. Student has to take prior permission from concerned counselor and
submit to the Head of the Department for approval in case of student taking leave.
The total amount of fine for one month must be paid by the student on or before 15th of
the succeeding month.
No student shall be allowed to attend the classes/examinations unless the fine amount is
paid.
In case of ill health, the student submits the medical certificate along with prescription
etc., from a registered medical doctor. The student should get the medical certificate
within two days from the date of reporting to the college after ill health and also produce a
letter from Father/Mother regarding ill health. Permission on medical grounds shall not be
granted for two or less than two days.
The students should come to the Laboratories with the prescribed uniform. Blue apron
with shoes for Mechanical Laboratories, white apron with shoes for other Laboratories
including Computer Lab etc.
Students are expected to attend the college properly dressed. They should wear the
prescribed uniform while attending Laboratory classes.
Students should attend the classes in time. Latecomers shall not be permitted to enter the
classroom and they are likely to loose attendance.
The teacher may expel a student who disturbs a lesson or makes mischief in a class from
the class.
No student shall enter or leave the classroom without the permission of the teacher.
Calling students out of their classrooms while the lecture is in- progress is prohibited.
Students shall spend their leisure time in the library/computer center.
Students are expected to carry the identify cards, issued by the college, in the campus.
They are required to show the identity cards at the library, computer center, office, etc.
Student without Identity Cards are not allowed to the Laboratory classes.
Students are required to help in keeping the rooms, buildings and premises clean and
tidy. Writing or sticking up of posters and notices on the walls is strictly prohibited.
Smoking, gambling of any kind etc., is strictly prohibited in the college campus and bus as
per Government act.
Students are expected to behave well with the staff, other students and the general public.
Any misbehavior coming to the notice of the college authorities will be severely dealt with.
The conduct of the students should be exemplary not only within the premises of the
college but also outside. This will help in maintaining the image and status of the college.

17. Students are required to observe silence at all times in the college campus. They shall not
talk in loud or call each other by shouting.
18. Students are prohibited from loitering in the verandahs/campus during class hours and
sitting on the steps, staircases or parapet walls.
19. Ragging in any form inside or outside the college campus is banned vide Ragging
Act. 26 of A.P Legislative Assembly 1997. Those who indulge in the uncivilized
activity are liable for severe disciplinary action besides being liable for prosecution.

20. Students are not permitted to resort to strikes and demonstrations with the campus.
Participation in such activity entails their dismissal from the college. Any problem they
face may be represented to the Counselor/Head of the Department/Principal.
21. Students are prohibited from organizing any meeting or entertainment in the college
campus without the permission of the college authorities.
22. Students should inform any changes in the addresses of their parents/guardians to the
college office.
23. The entry of outsiders without permission is prohibited. Any student found responsible for
bringing outsiders into the campus for setting personal disputes with other students
he/she shall be expelled from the college.
24. Students are expected to put up the maximum aggregate percentage of attendance (75%)
as laid down by the JNT University. Students, falling short of 75% of attendance and not
less than 65% have to be condoned by the approval of Vice Chancellor. Otherwise they will
not be promoted to the Next Semester/Class.
25. The college shall communicate the parents/guardians of the students from time to time
regarding the regularity and performance in the examinations, of their wards. The case of
serious in discipline on the part of the student(s) may also be communicated to
parent(s)/guardian(s).
26. Parents/guardians of the students can contact the college authorities either in person or
by post regarding discipline, regularity in attending classes, performance in the
examinations etc., of their wards.
27. The college has full power to take any action, which is deemed necessary in the case of
any indiscipline on the part of the students. The same will be reflected in the Conduct
Certificate issued at the time of leaving the college.
28. No Student Unions except Professional Associations are permitted in the college.
29. Student should keep their vehicles only at the place allotted for the purpose. Vehicle riding
in the campus is strictly prohibited and their speed limit should be 20kmph as soon as
they enter to the campus.
30. Hall tickets, for University Examinations will be issued only after the students clear all the
dues.
31. All students admitted into this college, will be required to pay the prescribed tuition fee
and other specified fees. Failure of the same will result in the cancellation of admission.

No portion of fees will be refunded under any circumstances. If any student wishes to
change the college or discontinue the course at any time for any reason, he/she shall not
be permitted to do so unless he/she pays balance amount of four years fees which he\she
would have paid, had he/she continued till the completion of the course. His/Her original
certificates including T.C., etc., will be issued only after the students as stated above, clear
all the dues.
32. All the students admitted in this college have to give an undertaking to abide by the rules
and regulations of this college in prescribed format given by the college.
33. Carrying and usage of Cell Phones are strictly prohibited in the college campus and college
bus. The cell phones will be confiscated and will not be returned back if a student is found
using..

STUDENT ACTIVITIES
1. Orientation Programme: The new batch of students every year is inducted
into the college culture and traditions apart from rules, regulations and norms
of the college. Students will be given students hand book consisting the details
of all the procedures, policies of the college with regard to discipline,
examinations, attendance, results etc. It will also contain information on
various facilities provided by the college like library, canteen, transportation,
etc.
2. Fresher’s Day: The College organizes Fresher’s day where the Second year
students welcome the Freshers. Principal and Department Heads will grace
the occasion. Second Year students will organize cultural events and conduct
competitions for Freshers. Refreshments will be provided by the management.
3. Annual Day: Annual Day will be celebrated in a large scale. Chief Guest is
invited from Industry, R & D Institutions, University and Govt. officials.
Principal presents the annual report of the college for the academic year.
a. Felicitations: Academic prizes will be given for department wise toppers in JNTU
exams. A Complete book set of the next semester is given for all the students in
each class who have secured more than 80% in JNTU Examinations. Prizes will
be given in different activities like sports, cultural, games, circular, co-circular
events.
b. Sports Events: Outdoor events like cricket, football, volleyball for boys & Throw
ball, Tennikoit for girls are held. In door events like Chess, Table Tennis, Caroms
at College level may be held once in every month and also for Annual Day.
c. Cultural Events
: Competitions like Singing, Anthyakshari, Light music,
Classical music, Dance, Mimicry etc are conducted.
d. Literary Events: Competitions like Essay writing, Elocution, Debate, Group
discussion, Quiz, Dumb Charades are conducted
e. Extra–circular Events: Events like painting, flower-arrangement, card-board
arrangement, vegetable carving, classroom decoration etc. We give an opportunity
to expose the business skills of the students by encouraging them to maintain
stalls on Annual Day.
4. Student Seminars: Students are encouraged to prepare and present seminars
in the hour scheduled for the same in the Time Table. Students can form
teams and prepare seminars in the subjects they are studying using LCD
Projector and PowerPoint presentations.
5. Symposia: College organizes Symposia by inviting eminent personalities to
encourage, influence and challenge students. These personalities are
renowned Academicians, Researchers, Scientists, CEOs, and important
Government Officials and Politicians.
6. Training: Industry-academia interaction has made our education being more
industry specific, guided and structured by different industries. The
placement cell conducts short term value added courses (like J2EE, GIS, .Net,
Testing tools, Embedded systems etc.) in the vacation for interested students.

7. Industrial and Study Tours: Local industrial visits are arranged for II and III
Year students. Outstation Industrial tours will be allowed for final years only
during the semester break.

9. Professional Society Activities: Students are encouraged to become
members of various professional societies e.g. CSI, IEEE, ISTE and
Departmental associations. Many professional Society activities are organized
by III year students.
