M E M O R A N D U M DATE: October 5, 2004 TO: WORKERS’ COMPENSATION PROGRAM MEMBERS FROM: Patrick Casey, Executive Consultant SUBJECT: LAB WORK IN ASSOCIATION WITH POST-OFFER PREPLACEMENT PHYSICALS At the Executive Committee meeting on Friday, September 17th, 1999 the Executive Committee acted upon the recommendation to discontinue paying for lab work as part of the post-offer preplacement physical procedure. As I explained in a previous memo, districts were unhappy with the turn-around time involved in getting lab results. In addition, the lab tests were quite costly and results could not be used to deny employment. The post-offer preplacement physicals, however, remain in place and are paid for by the JPA. Please continue to send your perspective employees to Industrial and Orthopedic Therapy Services. Be sure to send the authorization form with the applicant or the physical will not be performed. If you have any questions about this, please feel free to contact me at 221-6444.
