EPHRAIM BALOZI MAFURU
Ephraim B Mafuru is a renowned Brand Marketer in Tanzania, and a result driven professional. He is the Marketing Director for Serengeti Breweries Ltd. Serengeti
Breweries is a subsidiary of East African Breweries Ltd (Part of DIAGEO, the world leading manufacturer of Alcohol beverages).
Mafuru holds an MBA from the University of Dar-Es-Salaam Business School, BCOM in
Marketing (UDBS) and a Diploma in Business Administration (Marketing) from CBE –
Dar-Es-Salaam.
Mafuru started his carrier with Kibo Breweries Limited as a Sales Representative in
Dar-Es-Salaam, and then moved to Morogoro and Dodoma. After spending time in
Sales and Distribution for 9 months he joined Marketing Department as an Assistant
Brand Manager for Malta Guinness.
Mafuru spearheaded the test market and launch of Malta Guinness, the first locally produced Malt Energy drink in Tanzania. The Brand grew from 0 to 45,000 cases per month in only twelve months of its existence.
During the merger of EABL and SAB Miller, Mafuru was one of the two employees retained and promoted to the role of Brand Manager for EABL Brands taking charge of Tusker, Pilsner Ice, Guinness and Malta Guinness.
He attended his first DWBB training in Nigeria facilitated by DIAGEO Africa Marketing team and former Marketing Director for Guinness Nigeria - Mr. Ekwenife Okoli.
After three years of practical and successful Brand Marketing with EABL and attendance in several DWBB training and Group Strategy sessions in Nigeria,
Cameroon, Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania, Mafuru was awarded a world class Diploma in Brand Marketing by DIAGEO.
Mafuru joined Vodacom Tanzania as Marketing Manager in July 2005, he has managed several projects which built Vodacom Tanzania to become the Leading
Cellular company. This was achieved through Localization of Vodacom Brand through great Brand activities like, launch and support of great Products and Services,
Advertising, Brand PR, Sponsorship like the famous Vodacom Miss Tanzania,
Vodacom Premier League, Mwanza Cycle Challenge, Vodacom Kilimanjaro 5km Fun run and several Brand Campaigns including Vodacom 5 th Birthday, VodaMillionaire,
Shinda Mkoko, Nipige Tafu, “Habari Ndiyo Hii!!!!” 2006 FIFA World Cup Consumer
Promotion, Vodacom Brand campaign “Pamoja Daima”.
His endless and creative contribution to ensuring Vodacom Tanzania attained the
Super Brand status he was appointed to the position of Marketing Director in June
2008.
After working for 11 years in Brand Marketing, He decided to resign so as to pursue a carrier in Business Consultancy. His key focus has been Brand Marketing, Tourism and
Real Estate Development Consultancy.
At SBL Mafuru has spearheaded several Brand Marketing projects including the relaunch of Serengeti Premium Lager and Tusker Quality campaigns. New brands launched by SBL under his leadership include Pilsner, Senator and Smirnoff Ice.
Outside the office Mafuru is a member to an array of organizations, was a member of the National Presidential Committee for FIFA 2010 World Cup, Member of Brand
Tanzania Task Force, tasked with the objective of building the Tanzanian brand while luring visitors to the land filled with natural beauties.
Mafuru was the first President of AIESEC Tanzania and now sits in the Board of
Advisors for AIESEC University of Dar-Es-Salaam. He is Vice President of the Alumni
Association for the University of Dar-Es-Salaam Business School.
