Alamosa Round-Up Demolition Derby PO Box 59 Alamosa, CO 81101 (602) 571-0535 Rules and Regulations June 27th ,2015 7:30pm Car Inspection 4PM-6PM This Demolition Derby shall be open to all men and women over the age of 18 years, (16-18 with written parental consent). In the interest of fairness to all contestants the following rules and regulations shall prevail. Entry Fees: 1. Each Large Car shall pay a $40.00 entry fee and each Mini Car shall pay a $35.00 entry fee. Each Pick-up shall pay a $40.00 entry fee. The fee includes 1 driver, 1 car, and 2 pitmen. Two extra pitmen are allowed for an additional $10.00 each. A $5.00 secretarial fee is taken from each entry fee and the rest goes to the jackpot All pit men/women must be checked in prior to Driver’s Meeting @ 6:00pm. 2. Entry fees will go up after the Derby Meeting Monday June 22, 2015 to $75.00 for large mini cars, and pick-ups. Entry money must accompany the entry form by June 27th 2015, before 6PM. 3. Drivers and pit MUST sign release forms at the gate on derby day. Entry Requirements: 1. Driver and pitmen MUST be 16yrs of age or older. No one under the age of 16yrs will be permitted in the pit area. 2. All drivers must furnish their own car or have a Sponsor furnish one for them. Only five Sponsors will be announced. 3. Only Unmodified American Domestic cars or Station Wagons will be allowed. No Jeeps, Foreign, Convertible, Hearses, Limos, Checkers, Chrysler Imperials 69 and older, or 4 wheel drive cars. 4. Mini Heat: Only unmodified 6 cylinders or less, less than or equal to 104” wheelbase and may be Foreign or Domestic. No 4 wheel drive cars. Judges doing inspections will measure cars. 5. Entry forms and signed releases must be completed in full and in legible writing. (Please Print) Send a copy of proof of age with entry or present it when release is signed at gate. Participation Regulations: 1. All drivers MUST attend the drivers’ meeting before the derby at the gate entering the arena. If you do not attend it is a Major Disqualification! 2. Unsportsman like conduct will not be tolerated and a permanent disqualification from the Alamosa Round-Up Demolition Derby will be the result. 3. Any disturbance in the pit area or arena will be a Major Disqualification. 4. No driver or pitmen under the influence of ALCOHOL will be allowed to participate or enter this event. If you are found with ALCOHOL in the area you will be removed form the event and area. Major Disqualification! 5. Seat belts are required when entering the arena. Nets over drivers’ window optional. 6. When removing your car after the heat, only the assigned pitmen are allowed inside the arena. 7. A driver will not be allowed to participate if his car is not in the arena when the Green Flag is dropped. 8. Drivers will maneuver in a forward and backward direction Aggressively. 9. Judges will give a yellow flag if someone is pinning or not driving aggressively. (2yellow flags results in Disqualification) Judges Discretion No Arguing! 10. No Deliberate HEAD-ONS! Major Disqualification. 11. Deliberate hitting of the drivers door is a Major Disqualification. 12. Helmets are required with optional eye protection. Helmets must be secured at all times. If it comes off (3) times it will be a Major Disqualification! 13. No shorts or cutoffs will be allowed! It is recommended that you wear clothes with long sleeves, made of cotton instead of polyester or nylon, in case of an accident or fire. 14. Drivers must remain in their car until the Heat is completed, unless there is a fire or other dangerous condition. Any driver sitting outside of their car will be eliminated from the competition. 15. Any car spilling gas or catching fire more than (2) times will be disqualified. 16. Each car must have a hand held fire extinguisher in car securely held down but accessible in case of emergency. This will be inspected. Pit crews should be equipped with Fire Extinguisher (BC) type, for Gas or Electrical fires. 17. Keep the approach and exit areas to/from the arena clear of other cars for Emergency Equipment. 18. Any car losing the drivers’ door or reinforcement bar, trunk lid or hood will be disqualified! (But will be able to advance to the Losers Heat after being re-inspected by the Judges.) 19. Drivers and pit crew are to walk the arena and pit area after the derby to help clean up the grounds and load tires also. Preparation of Cars: 1. Advertising and slogans may be placed on the car except on the front doors. Drivers Name & Number must be on both front doors and roof in extra large, legible, print with light color on dark cars and dark on light cars. 2. Radiators and fans may be removed, but not be relocated. 3. Batteries shall be in a covered insulated box, in a very secure position in the front seat area. 4. All glass and chrome must be removed before reaching the event area. Please do not break glass but remove the windows because when cars are hit it comes out everywhere and is a mess to clean up thank you. 5. Cars should have drivers seat. 6. Reinforcement of drivers seat optional only an H brace allowed but not to frame. No Boxing! 7. A maximum of (8) gallons of gas will be allowed in the car. The original gas tank must be removed and the substitute tank must be located in the back seat area. Tied down with a firewall around the tank. The firewall may be made of any fireproof material. 8. For fire purposes a 16” hole must be in the hood over the carburetor. 9. Air breathers will be required for fire safety and may me modified. 10. All hoods, trunks, and wagons gates may be welded shut with a 12” inspection hole and back seats must be removed. 11. No lacing allowed. Limit of 4 chains no bigger than 3/8 inch. 12. Drivers door must be reinforced, but not more than 12” before or after the doors edge. No other part of the car (except drivers seat) may be reinforced. 13. Driver and passenger doors must be chained or welded. 14. All manufactured body bushings must be in place this will be strictly enforced. 15. No special bumpers, extra weight, trailer hitches, special lift blocks, shackles, or any reinforcements of springs, suspension systems will be allowed. No industrial, forklift or implement type tires. 16. Front and rear bumpers may be welded to hold in place only. No additional metal or anything else may be added to reinforce the bumpers. 17. No welding that enforces the structure of the car, refer to driver door & bumpers rule. This will be enforced. Heats: 1. Each heat will consist of an equal number of cars if at all possible. 2. Timers will be assigned to each car in each heat and drivers have a two-minute contact rule. They must initiate contact with another car within two minutes or break their stick. 3. The last (2) cars running will be awarded, a T-shirt or cap, and advance to the winners heat. 4. The most aggressive driver per heat & loser heat will also advance to the winners heat. And receive $100.00 Note the most aggressive driver can be one of the last two cars in the heat. 5. All cars that have not won will be allowed to enter the losers heat. The logistics will be decided at the drivers meeting! 6. The winners heat will place (3) positions. Prize money is $2750.00 plus entries minus the $5.00 secretarial fee per entry. Money split tabled until drivers meeting, last year split was 50,30,20. First-third will also receive a trophy. 7. Awards will be given out at the conclusion of the derby. Please, have a representative there to get prizes. Checks will be given out after the derby at secretary table. 8. Best & Worst decorated cars will be judged and announced at grand entry. 9. Sandbagging will not be allowed, if you are caught sandbagging, your car will be sprayed with shaving crème. The 1st car to hit you following that, will receive $50.00. Mini Heat: 1. Mini heat drivers will receive the jackpot (split decided at drivers meeting past 60, 40) minus $5.00 per entry fee for secretary plus $750.00 added prize money, a sweatshirt, and trophy. Second place receives a trophy also. 2. Must have at least 4 cars to have a mini heat. Pick-ups 1. Pick-up heat drivers will receive the jackpot (split decided at drivers meeting past 60, 40) minus $5.00 per entry fee for secretary plus $1200.00 added prize money, a sweatshirt, and trophy. 2. Must have at least 4 trucks to have a pick-up heat. Judges primarily inspect for safety and conformation of the rules. However, it is up to the driver to insure that their car is legal. Other drivers have the right to inspect other cars and inform the judges of any infractions or potential problems. If you are found, at any time to be illegal you will be disqualified. Note: 1. Drivers will be asked to carry sponsorship flags in the Grand Entry as a thank you for our sponsor’s support. Winner of the previous year will carry the American flag and is the last one to enter. 2. A major disqualification requires a Majority of the Judges to be in agreement. The result of a Major Disqualification is no re-entry into the remainder of the events. 3. All Cars must be removed from the grounds by 12:00pm Monday June 29th, 2015. 4. Remember to keep other vehicles to a minimum in the pit area. You are responsible for what is taken in!
