Summary Statement: State the major function(s) of the position and its role in the university. Working under the direction of the Director of Faculty Compensation and Productivity Analysis, the Faculty Compensation and Productivity Senior Analyst assists in developing and maintaining the University of Nevada School of Medicine (UNSOM) faculty compensation program. The Analyst is responsible for an annual review of all Medical School Associates North and Medical School Associates South third party payer insurance contracts. The position serves as a subject matter expert in billing and ad hoc practice management and electronic health record reporting. The program is intended to support recruitment and retention of administrative, basic science, and clinical faculty and physician educators in achieving the UNSOM mission. The Senior Analyst assists in developing, maintaining, and updating compensation policies and strategies which are consistent with the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR) and the Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE) salary policies and compensation models, to promote UNSOM economic health and the recruitment/retention of employees. The Analyst position is responsible for departmental compensation and productivity data analysis and reporting. 2. List the major responsibilities, including percentage of time devoted to each. Provide enough detail to enable a person outside the department to understand the job (percentage first with heading and then bulleted information). 40% - Database Planning, Development, Collection, and Entry Contribute to planning and development of new or revised data collection/reporting systems by recommending data element needs, data parameters, reporting methods, etc., from perspective as technical analyst Research and collect relevant data elements for physician wage, compensation and productivity analysis Technically integrate existing data components; and new data components Lead Centricity practice management and electronic health record conversion by serving as a Centricity Super User. o As a Centricity Super User, the analyst verifies the accuracy of patient data entered across multiple locations throughout the state of Nevada and creates back end reports for Budget and Finance and Integrated Clinical Services leadership. o Defines parameters based on departmental goals; tracks clinical and billing information, and uses this information to create a single page dashboard. Interpret results to provide preliminary assessment of findings Position Description – Senior Analyst, Faculty Compensation and Productivity Page 3 20% - Data Analysis and Integration Test and research data in order to ensure ongoing integrity, relevance and continuity of data Evaluate data produced against established parameters; ensure continuity, accuracy and logical result which aligns with expectations Identify and investigate anomalies, outliers, trends and patterns that may indicate data error or corruption Make arrangements, collection method, etc., recognizing and accounting for tangential impact of changes on other systems Create and maintain payer contracting databases to forecast revenue based on current billing levels for each contracted payer to assist in the negotiation of future insurance contracts. Create clinical billing reports as requested Review of all Medical School Associates North and Medical School Associates South third party payer insurance contracts annually and advises UNSOM Budget and Finance and ICS leadership in selecting the best reimbursement rates. 20% - UNSOM Compensation Program Support Monitor and track physician pay practices and pay levels at hospitals, academic medical centers and large groups via AAMC, MGMA, and other external data resources Design and prepare reports, charts, tables, etc., for use in determining annual physician pay, salary range adjustments, clinical compensation levels, etc. Assist Director of Faculty Compensation and Productivity Analysis in the ongoing management of the UNSOM Performance Compensation Plan o Defines parameters based on departmental goals; extramural funding, and uses this information to create a single page dashboard. Assist in the preparation of annual budget by communicating the agreed upon compensation provisions through the Director of Faculty Compensation and Productivity Analysis. 3. Describe the level of freedom to take action and make decisions with or without supervision and how the results of the work performed impact the department, division and/or the university as a whole. Level of Freedom: The Senior Analyst is the primary person responsible for preparing and completing an annual review of all Medical School Associates North and Medical School Associates South third party payer insurance contracts. The Senior Analyst has the discretion to exercise considerable independent judgment in preparing and overseeing the development and implementation of methodologies that support data integrity and the analyses of compensation, financial, and productivity information. The position consults with the Director, Faculty Compensation and Productivity Analysis and Senior Associate Dean of Finance on more complex data analysis and project goals. Level of Impact: Decisions and analytical judgments made by the Senior Analyst will have a significant impact on financial decisions made by others, which could affect the overall performance of UNSOM. Work results in accurate and timely information that affects faculty pay and departmental budget decisions. Maintenance of data accuracy and quality assures those faculties are paid correctly and competitively. Mistakes in analyses concerning compensation for high income individuals could result in decisions which have political, legal, and moral implications.
