2ndSem.-Physics Light and Optics - Instructor LO-Lab#02 Lab #LO2 - Equipment Each station needs the following: 2 Small work lamps (#56) 1 Ray box (#25) (Make sure all connecting plugs are tight) 1 Power supply for ray box (#25) 1 Black insert with skinny slit for ray box (#25) 1 Meter stick or half-meter stick Small tripod stand with blue base (#3) 1 Vernier light sensor (#21) plugged into Channel A and mounted with electrical tape (#37) on the blue tripod base so that it is at the same height as the light bulb in the ray box. Verify that all sensors are set to the 0 – 6,000 Lux range. 1 Pasco light sensor (#21) plugged into Channel B. Verify that all sensors are set to gain = 10. Box of 6 crayons (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple) (Ferg 302 and #61) Put the following equipment on the equipment table: Box of 25 W replacement frosted light bulbs for table lamps (#57) Box of extra crayons (#61) 1 extra power supply (#25) and 1 extra ray box (#25) Box of 1-A SB fuses (#30 or #25) Box with 2 extra bulbs (#25) for the ray boxes Box with 6-12 sunglasses (#25) 2 envelopes with 15-20 blue filters (#25) in each 2 envelopes with 15-20 red filters (#25) in each 2 envelopes with 20 yellow filters (#25) in each Cut more filters if necessary On the equipment cart placed at the side of the room: Box of ~15 squares of the C-Spectra diffraction gratings (#61) 1 Spectrum-tube power supply (#61) with hydrogen gas tube (#61) Incandescent bulb with a straight filament (#57) in a socket (#57) Mount this bulb with a right-angle clamp (MZ) to a tripod support stand Adjust the height so that the bulb can sit directly above the spectrum-tube power supply. Plug it into a variable 0-120 V AC power supply (#53). 2ndSem.-Physics Light and Optics - Instructor Lab #LO2 - Equipment Note: Vernier light sensor attached to blue tripod base.
