Lab #LO2 - Equipment
Each station needs the following:









2 Small work lamps (#56)
1 Ray box (#25) (Make sure all connecting plugs are tight)
1 Power supply for ray box (#25)
1 Black insert with skinny slit for ray box (#25)
1 Meter stick or half-meter stick
Small tripod stand with blue base (#3)
1 Vernier light sensor (#21) plugged into Channel A and mounted with electrical tape
(#37) on the blue tripod base so that it is at the same height as the light bulb in the ray
box. Verify that all sensors are set to the 0 – 6,000 Lux range.
1 Pasco light sensor (#21) plugged into Channel B. Verify that all sensors are set to
gain = 10.
Box of 6 crayons (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple) (Ferg 302 and #61)
Put the following equipment on the equipment table:









Box of 25 W replacement frosted light bulbs for table lamps (#57)
Box of extra crayons (#61)
1 extra power supply (#25) and 1 extra ray box (#25)
Box of 1-A SB fuses (#30 or #25)
Box with 2 extra bulbs (#25) for the ray boxes
Box with 6-12 sunglasses (#25)
2 envelopes with 15-20 blue filters (#25) in each
2 envelopes with 15-20 red filters (#25) in each
2 envelopes with 20 yellow filters (#25) in each
 Cut more filters if necessary
On the equipment cart placed at the side of the room:



Box of ~15 squares of the C-Spectra diffraction gratings (#61)
1 Spectrum-tube power supply (#61) with hydrogen gas tube (#61)
Incandescent bulb with a straight filament (#57) in a socket (#57)
 Mount this bulb with a right-angle clamp (MZ) to a tripod support stand
 Adjust the height so that the bulb can sit directly above the spectrum-tube power
supply. Plug it into a variable 0-120 V AC power supply (#53).
