You will assess your interests, skills, and characteristics, and.investigate current economic and workplace trends, work opportunities, and ways to search for work. The course explores post-secondary learning and career options, prepares you for managing work and life transitions, and helps you to focus on your goals through the development of a career plan. Course Challenge: As much as possible, this course will be conducted as a “paperless” course. General Information: The curriculum expectations identified for the Career Studies course describe the knowledge and skills that you are expected to develop and demonstrate in your classwork and in various other activities on which your achievement is assessed and-evaluated. This course has been designed to incorporate a variety of activities and accommodate various learning styles. Thus, daily attendance and prompt completion of all homework, classwork, and other tasks is essential to achieve success. You must be prompt and present for all classes, making sure to bring adequate supplies, books, and memory stick. You are expected to come to class, ready to participate fully in classroom activities. It is important to co-operate with others, as well as contribute to the learning environment of the classroom. Due dates will be set for assessment tasks and these should be respected. Meeting deadlines is an essential part of the learning process. Learning Skills These skills will be evaluated separately on the report card with letter grades (E = excellent, G = good, S = satisfactory, N = needs improvement).
