M O N I I T O R I I N G O F N U C L E A R TESTS AND THEIR CONSEQUENCES

Dear Colleagues and Friends!

We are pleased to invite you to participate in the IХ International Conference “Monitoring of nuclear tests and their consequences ” to be held from 08 August to 12

August 2016 in Almaty (Kazakhstan) in the premises of the

Data Centre of the Institute of Geophysical Researches.

We dedicate this Conference to the 20th anniversary of the

Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty opening for signature, co-chairing of Kazakhstan in the Conference under

Article 14 CTBT, and 25th anniversary of the closure of

Semipalatinsk Test Site.

The reports and discussion meetings are expected to cover the scientific and technical contribution of scientists and specialists into solving of challenging issues related to the

Conference topics leading to maximum realization of the potential of the anniversary events.

I will be glad to meet you and your colleagues. I am sure that in the midst of one of the most beautiful cities of Kazakhstan, the Conference participants will find new opportunities to join the efforts for further research and work.

VENUE

The Conference will be held at the Data Centre of the Institute of Geophysical Research, Almaty,

Republic of Kazakhstan.

Airport of arrival: Almaty.

Railway stations: Almaty-1, Almaty – 2.

The participants will be staying at hotels of Almaty. The cost of housing is 4 0 USD to 100 USD per day.

CONFERENCE LANGUAGES

The Conference languages are Russian and English. The reports are transalted to the Conference languages.

ABSTRACTS AND PAPERS

Abstracts

Text of the abstracts of 2-3 full pages in Russian and English are submitted together with application for participation. Text of the paper is submitted in Russian or English.

When preparing the abstracts and papers the following requirements should be met :

Page format A4 (210 x 297 mm) with margins: top, left, bottom - 25 mm: right – 15 mm. Times New

Roman print of the 10 th size for both body text and headers. Use single spacing in the text and double spacing between paragraphs.

The title should be bold and capital letters, header should be centered. Last names of authors, middle and first names (shortened to the first letter and following the last name) should also be in bold, lowercase and centered.

If authors represent different organizations, their names should be numbered. The name of organizations, city, country, phone and fax numbers, and e-mail should be in bold italic and marked by the same numeral as the author.

Annotation is 4-10 lines in the paper. Header and annotation are repeated in English at the end of the paper.

The text should be given in MS WORD for Windows format.

Figures may be colored or black-and-white, duplicated and sent separately from the text in one of the following formats: tif, gif, jpeg, png, pcx, with resolution of 600 dpi. The materials should be submitted in electronic form via e-mail as an attached file.

Papers

Presentation duration: 20 minutes (with Q&A). The printed version of papers is supposed to be published prior to the conference opening.

The type of report design for publication is followed from the example given below.

Annotation- 4-10 lines

The text should be up to 14-16 pages. Dividing according to subject headings is welcomed, but not obligatory.

Typesetting

The text should be prepared on A4 sheets with margins: top, bottom, left – 30 mm, right – 20 mm. Font is Times

New Roman, height (size) - 12 points for head and 10 points for plain text. Single spacing should be used when typing. Double spacing should be used between paragraphs. The first rubric is full-out.

The title of presentation should be bold, uppercase, header should be centered. Authors’ last names, first and middle names (abbreviated to the first letter and located after the last name) should be also bold, lowercase and centered.

If the authors represent different organizations, their names should be numbered, as it was shown above.

Organization name, city, country should be bold italic and numbered if there are several organizations. Text is centered.

The presentation headings are not centered and separated from previous and subsequent text by one line, and it should be also bold.

The table name is not centered and placed after words: Table 1, 2...Tables are separated by one line after title. The table is centered.

Figures could be colored or black-and-white. Black-and-white figures are submitted as Word-files, and doubled separately from the text in one of the following formats - tif, gif, jpeg, png, pcx with 600 dpi. Volume of scanned figures and Exсel figures must be minimized. The caption must be separated by one empty line under a figure after words: Figure 1.. The width of a figure should be 8 or 14 cm. Inscriptions in figures should be readable by reduction of figures to above-mentioned size. The figures should be laid out in their accordant places in the text or their locations to be indicated by placement of their names.

The formulas to be presented as the object of Microsoft Equation in the text or Math Type. Those formulas to be numbered that are referred to.

Chemistry formulas and small figures in the text line should be presented as the object of Paint Microsoft Word.

References

The references in the text are placed with numbers in square brackets in mention order: [ ].

Registration fee upon arrival is 100 USD at the rate of the National Bank RK on the date of payment.

Registration fee ensures maintenance, provision with a set of information materials, participation in excursions, transportation to the Conference site from airport/train station and back.
