Rotary Minute
C-M Rotary Club – Rotary Foundation how it helps:
Ernie and Sally Montagne have helped sow the seeds for Rotary Foundation grant
projects that are bringing clean water, sanitation, better health, and economic development to two of the
world’s poorest countries, Niger and Togo. Ernie, governor-elect of District 5500 (Arizona, USA), and Sally, a
member of the Rotary Club of Sierra Vista Sunrise, served as Rotary Volunteers to the two countries in 2005.
They have since traveled, at their own expense, back to Africa to oversee the work being done and around the
United States to promote the projects that are helping to break the cycle of hunger and grinding poverty. “After
working in grants all my life, I have never seen an organization that handles and distributes money as well as
The Rotary Foundation,” says Sally, the district’s Foundation grants subcommittee chair. “I have seen nothing
compared to the Foundation in terms of how careful it is about distributing money and how effective it is at
making long term differences in the lives of people all over the world. Ernie and I are incredibly impressed, and
because of that, the Foundation is our charity of choice.” Share your EREY story at

Speaker:
So what do you think of China?
To quote Ray Jacoby “Unbelievable, Unbelievable, Unbelievable!!!!!”
Ray spoke on his 2004 NAFYR (North American Fellowship of YMCA Retirees) International Senior
Service Corp experience in Beijing China. Ray in his typical eloquent way of speaking and with a
wonderful slide show gave us a glimpse of his experiences.
Ray & Micki went to teach English to the Beijing YMCA staff and is amazed tat he changes that China
has undergone in the past 5 years is remarkable.
The best way to enjoy Ray’s presentation is for folks to go to the Channel 16 website and view the Sept
03 meeting at: http://www.lcatv.org/QTROTARY.htm
ROTARIAN
SPOTLIGHT
Hey all it’s Suzanne Brown here! I joined the Colchester-Milton Club in March in
2005. My sponsor to the club was Chris Pingert. Although Chris and I tend to be on
opposing sides in the courtroom we are united in our desire to improve the community.
I live in Shelburne and have 2 grown sons Daniel and David and I will soon become a 1st
time grandmother.
As the club’s fundraising chair I have been able to help Rotary generate the funds to
make a difference not only in Milton & Colchester but globally.
My best Rotary moment being selected as this year’s Rotarian of the year.
