Mason Evans, Inc Diamond Investigations & Security Integrity First Agency Policy, Procedures, Rules, and Regulations Standard Operating Procedures 1. Purpose. Diamond Security, (the Company), in order to present a positive image to our client, prospective clients, the public, and for the good order and smooth running of this agency promulgate a set of rules and regulations stating what is expected of our employees. 2. Communications. Each employee of this company must be accessible by phone. a. Each employee must have a valid home/or cell phone, where he or she may be reached. b. Each employee must have a cell phone where he or she may be contacted and that can be used to call on or off of shift, to call for instructions, or for emergencies. c. When called, the employee must respond (answer) in a timely manner. d. Each employee must call in or contact the office at least once a week to find out whether or not scheduled, to find out if there is work for them, and to find out if there are any changes. 3. Uniforms. Each Security Officer must report to duty in appropriate uniform. This uniform must be clean and presentable. Each Security Officer will wear only the issued shirt w/the Diamond Logo (Patch) and badge. The trousers will be Navy Blue, unless otherwise authorized. Black shoes, boots, or Black Athletic shoes must be worn. Your duty belt must also be black in color, and you must display your name badge for identification purposes. Failure to look after your uniform will result in a deduction (other than for normal wear and tear) from your wages. You are representing the Company when wearing your uniform; therefore you are expected to present yourself as smart and clean. Shirts and pants must be pressed, and shoes polished. Failure to present yourself in a manner becoming a professional will result in disciplinary action, retraining or even dismissal for continued inability to present yourself in the manner expected of you for your Company and its clientele. On leaving the employ of the Company, you must return all issued equipment, as failure to do so may result in the withholding of final pay to cover the cost of non-return. 4. Identification. Each Security Officer will carry on his/her person their State Issued Security License and “G” License if armed, as well as the company issued identification card. This is State Law. 5. Equipment. Only issued/authorized equipment shall be used, or carried on post. 6. Duty. When assigned to a post, you are representing Diamond Security; therefore, you must conduct yourself in a Professional manner. Keep in mind that you have the duty to Protect, Observe and Report anything that you see or that goes on during your tour of duty. You are the eyes and ears of our client. a. Each Security Officer should arrive at his/her post at least 10 to 15 minutes early in order to prepare for duty. b. Each Security Officer shall be ready to perform their duties when their shift starts. (i.e. familiarize themselves with the Post Orders and/or instructions for the post.) 7. Unarmed Post. If assigned to an Unarmed Post, the Unarmed Security Officer WILL NOT carry or bring with him/her any Firearm, unless given permission by a supervisor of Diamond Investigations and Security. This permission will only be granted on a case to case basis. Only equipment issued by this agency should be carried. The carrying and use of handcuffs, baton, and pepper spray is permitted as long as the Security Officer has been trained and certified on its use. 8. Armed Post. When assigned to an Armed Post, the Armed Security Officer MUST possesses a “G” License and must carry it on his/her person. The Security Guard will carry the handgun in an appropriate holster for the sidearm that they are carrying. The only firearms that the Armed Security Officer will be allowed to carry, according to State Law, will be a .38 caliber revolver, or .357 caliber revolver with standard .38 ammunition. A semi-automatic pistol with 9mm ammunition may only be carried, when certified. No other weapon or ammunition is permitted. The Security Officer may carry pepper spray, handcuffs or baton, as long as he or she has been trained and certified on such weapons. 9. Duties. It is the Security Officer’s responsibility to become familiar with the instructions/post orders of the post that they are to work. i.e.: “Proxi Guard”, if used on the post that they are assigned to. The duties of the Security Officer are to stand their post in a professional manner, keeping alert and aware of their surroundings. The job of the Security Officer is to OBSERVE and REPORT, to be visible, and to deter crime and/or vandalism. The Security Officer MUST be professional and courteous. Be ready to assist the client when called upon. If a situation arises and an incident occurs, the Security Officer must notify the supervisor, or management of the company, notified the appropriate emergency agency (Police, Sheriff, or Fire Department (911), and the client. The Security Officer must always look out for the safety and protection of him/herself, the client and their premises and innocent bystanders; therefore, no weapon discharge or vehicle involvement shall be tolerated, unless there is no other alternative. Such actions will be grounds for immediate dismissal. The Security Officer will cooperate with and assist any Law Enforcement Officer, EMS, or other emergency agencies, which may appear at the scene of an incident at their assigned post. If requested, the Security Officer shall hold himself/herself available to aid the Law Enforcement Officer until “backup” arrives. The Security Officer shall cooperate and aid only to the extent that has been requested. NO EXCESSIVE FORCE WILL BE TOLERATED. The Security Officer will submit (in a timely fashion) an Incident Report for any incidences which occur during their tour of duty. The Security Officer will complete and submit a Daily Duty Report (DDR) at the end of their tour of duty. One copy will be given to the client and a copy to the Security Office. The Security Officer will be paid only upon receipt of the DDRs and Time Sheets. 10. Attention to Duty. The duty of a Security Officer is to be alert, to be aware of his/her surroundings, and to work the post. It is against company policy, for any Security Officer, to have visitors on post (although someone may, this is not say that someone cannot drop off lunch or an important message). Just be reasonable. Televisions or any other such devise should only be used on a reasonable basis, and only then upon approval of the supervisor. a. No Show / Sleeping on Post / Desertion of Post: It is the Security Officer’s responsibility to get enough rest. No Show, Sleeping on Post, or leaving your Post prior to the shift end, without permission, WILL BE GROUNDS FOR IMMEDIATE DISMISSAL! b. Drug and /or Alcohol, or any substance abuse while in the employment of this agency, is unacceptable and could be grounds for immediate dismissal. This agency reserves the right to require testing at any given time on a random basis. Your attention is brought to the document “Drugs in the Workplace”, of which a copy has been supplied to you. c. Cooperation with fellow workers is a must. Insubordination to any officer of the company is subject to disciplinary action. Such disciplinary action is determined by the Management of the Company, suitable to the insubordination. Suspension from one day to a week can, and will be enforced, followed by termination where deemed appropriate. 11. Checking In and Out. a. All Uniform Guards will call the office and check in upon arriving at an assigned Post. b. All Uniform Guards will call the office and check out at the end of their shift. c. The number to call is: 407-574-8814. This line is manned 24 hours a day and is to be used for calling on and off Post. For all other purposes, such as in emergency situations or when in need of a supervisor, you should call Dispatch: 239 542-1113/239 214-1151. d. Failure to comply with this instruction at each shift beginning and end could result in NOT being credited as working the shift, and not being paid. 12. Request for Time Off. a. Time off requests must be submitted at least two weeks in advance and be approved by the office manager or Supervisor. b. Emergency time off must be called in a timely fashion, in order to find a replacement. c. Calling in sick, must be in a timely fashion. Excessive calling off could result in future assignments not being offered. 13. It is the responsibility of each Security Officer employed by this agency to know and obey the rules and regulations as set forth, along with the contents of Chapter493 of the State of Florida Statutes.
