We are seeking $5000 in return for 10% equity in the company. The funds will be used for

Executive Summary
You-Nique Beauty Salon is a full-service beauty salon dedicated to consistently providing high
customer satisfaction by rendering excellent service, quality products, and furnishing an
enjoyable atmosphere at an acceptable price/value relationship. We will also maintain a friendly,
fair, and creative work environment, which respects diversity, ideas, and hard work. You-Nique
beauty Salon offers the best services to our customers including hair, manicure, pedicure,
massages, tanning, and facials.
The timing is right for starting this new venture. Patiently searching for six months for the
perfect location, one was finally found. The demand from the owners’ clients, as well as the
ambitions of the owners to one day start their own salon, and the procurement of highly
professional and qualified beauticians to support the salon, has made this business one of great
potential.
Petra Sedlakova, co-owner with Danielle Scott, has worked in a prestigious, upscale salon in
Presov, Slovakia for two years. Danielle Scott has worked in a MIA Beauty Salon in Vancouver
for 3 years. They both have created a large client following through hard work and dedication.
Petra, Danielle and their talented team of beauticians, has what it takes to make this venture an
extremely successful one. They expect their growing reputation to lead to new clients and
beauticians to support their anticipated growth.
To achieve their objectives, You-Nique is seeking additional loan financing. This loan will be
paid from the cash flow from the business, and backed by the character, experience, and personal

The company’s demographics consist of age, income, education, and location. The focus is on
females: preteens, teens and adults. Individuals with high disposable income, they must be able
to spend money at a salon rather then doing it at home for a cheaper price. It is not necessary for
the costumers to have high education but people in the fashion industry would be a target market.
People living in the neighborhood, people on vacation in the hotels near the salon are the people
You-Nique Beauty is trying to attract.

The lifestyle characteristics of You-Nique Beauty are people interested in fashion, woman and
girls getting married or graduating. Also anyone needing a fashionable haircut are all people we
are targeting. For Special occasion there are different packages such as the Mothers Day Delight,
Fathers Day Dream, Wedding Wonders, Graduation Galore, and Preteen Party Pack. For a day to
day pampering there are many different beauty treatment to choose from. You-Nique offers hair
treatments such as cuts, blow-drying, hair dying, and hair-do’s, nail treatments: Manicures,
pedicures, acrylic nails and gel nails, makeup: professionally done, eyeliner tattooing and
eyelash tinting and finally tanning: lie down and standup booths and air brushing. Customers are
influenced to purchase packages and everyday treatments by there friends and family who have
previously been to You-Nique Beauty.
You-Nique wants to set itself apart from other beauty salons that may offer only one or two types
of services. From the survey the company made with potential clients, they desire all of the
services that we are proposing, but they remain frustrated because they must get their hair done
at one place, and nails done at another. Although the focus of You-Nique is hair services, we do
wish to offer our clients the convenience of these other services in one location.
There are a number of salons like ours; we do not intend to compete with the high-class day spas.
We wish to offer a middle ground for those clients who can't quite afford those high-end luxury
salons.
Our business atmosphere will be a relaxing one where clients can kick back and be pampered.
Soft drinks will be offered to clients as they enter for service. Televisions will be located in the
waiting and hair-drying area.
Uncontrollable factors
There are two uncontrollable factors that would most affect You-Nique Beauty. The
competition is the first. There are currently many beauty salons all throughout North
Vancouver. Because this is a personal service industry, customer patronage is
determined to a large extent by the quality of the service provider and the level of
confidence the client has in the employer. You-Nique Beauty has determined that they
will attain a competitive edge through careful hiring and training of their employees.

Proximity of competitors may be a secondary factor to customer patronage, and YouNique will be the only beauty salon on Launsdale Avenue, which should be an
advantage. The near by competitors in the North Vancouver are Spatacular Beauty, Holly’s
Hairdressing, Shears Beauty Salon, Hair Sense Beauty, Ky Beauty Salon, Supernova Salon and
Goddess Beauty Salon.
The second relevant uncontrollable is the social and cultural factor. Concern over one’s looks is a
major trend in North America. This suggests a continued and growing use of beauty salons. In
addition, the Vancouver market is an aging one. Both of these should be a positive influence on
You-Niques performance.
Marketing Strategy
Our marketing strategy is to satisfy our clients, this is our best marketing tool. When a client
leaves our business with a new look, he or she is broadcasting our name and quality to the public.
Most of our clients will be referrals from existing clients.
No major advertising campaigns are anticipated. Our research has shown that word of mouth is
the best advertising for this type of business. We will, however, offer frequent specials
depending on the season. We will also ask clients for referrals, and reward them with discounted
or free services depending on the number of clients they bring. We will also offer discounts to
the new clients who have been referred.
Promotion
Local advertising and seasonal promotions are a few things the company will do to promote the
salon. Local newspaper advertising, local fliers, grand opening party kick-off and promotion for
the first 30 days are just a few. Continue regular advertising and plan for seasonal events like
Christmas, Valentine's, Mother's Day, Prom and New Year's.
Hotels that do not offer their own beauty services will send their guests to our spa or use our
beauty services. Prior to opening, the company will make contacts with managers and concierges
at local hotels to ensure they are aware of the services available. Promotions will be offered to
professionals in these industries to create buzz and build relationships.
You-Nique Beauty will show up on every major search engine and in the phone directory. The
website will have a full menu of services and eventually have the ability to schedule
appointments on-line. The spa software we are using will allow a user to see the schedule and
make an appointment without making a phone call. Finally You-Nique will also use facebook to
promote the products since there are so many users.
Place
It is imperative that we be located in a high-traffic strip mall that is high-end, modern, and clean.
We prefer locating near a complementary business like a spa that does not offer any of the
treatments that You-Nique Beauty has.

The top item, which determines success in business, is the location. The busy location in North
Vancouver is a thriving residential community, which is the company’s top marketing strategy.
The research that has been made has made the company come to realize we will be able to offer
the best upscale, ultra-amenity, and beauty experience. Once a client experiences the luxurious,
high-end level of personalized beauty that we offer, we are confident that we will have a return
client.
The company will be at an easy access and busy place such as Capilano mall, Park Royal, or
Lonsdale Quay. They are sure to have a beauty salon but bringing in another would bring more
customers and the people already going to the beauty salons there might become interested in
You-Nique beauty.
Physical facilities
A building in North Vancouver is needed. With supplies such as chairs, televisions, sinks, hair
styling supplies, tanning booths, nail supplies and products to sell such as shampoos and lotions.
Location
The salon will be located in North Vancouver, 311 Lonsdale Avenue. The salon will utilize
1,540 square feet. The location is strategically situated on one of the busiest streets in North
Vancouver. It is a high profile area, with easy access from all parts of the city.
Personnel
The personnel plan calls for a receptionist who will greet customers and receive payments for
services and products. There will be five hair stylists, one barber, one nail technician, one
facialist, and a massage therapist. Everyone but the receptionist will be contract workers, and
will be paid a sliding commission scale based on the amount of revenue created. Future plans
include the hiring of a shampoo technician as the business expands.
In the first year, assumptions are that there will only be three hair stylists, a barber, and part time
nail, facial, and massage technician until the business can build a reputation that will attract
others to work there.
