ORGANIZATION GUIDELINES IS-ENES GENERAL ASSEMBLY – 26th, 27th & 28th MAY 2010 UPC CAMPUS, BARCELONA Welcome to Barcelona and to the IS-ENES first General Assembly. Let us describe some organizational procedures in order to make your stay more comfortable. Badge: The organization will hand your accreditation during registration time at the beginning of the meeting. We would appreciate if you could please keep it visible until the end in order to identify all attendees as well as getting to know each other. Program: please go through the program, which is included in your welcome pack, to be informed about the event. The welcome pack is handed out during the registration. Meeting Location (Aula Màster): please find below the map with the meeting room “Aula Màster”. Please do not hesitate to contact any organizing member if you require any further directions. Coffee breaks: all morning and afternoon breaks will take place in the “Sala Polivalent” room booked for this assembly. Regarding the guided tour to the supercomputer, for security reasons, only a group of 30 people will be allowed to visit the MareNostrum at the same time and all groups must always be accompanied by an authorized BSC person. We appreciate if you could be on time. Dinner: A get-together dinner at Xalet de Montjuïc´s Restaurant (Avinguda Miramar, 31, Barcelona – phone: +34 933 249 270) has been organized for 27th May, 09:00 pm to enjoy a nice dinner (http://www.gruptravi.com/xalet/english/historia.html). It will be a set menu of appetizers, two main courses and dessert, with an option between meat and fish. As the restaurant is far from the downtown, a bus service will be provided. The bus will pick up the attendees at Nexus II (Jordi Girona Street, 29) at 8.30pm. We appreciate if you could be on time. More information about Barcelona’s airport: www.aena.es. Ways to arrive to Barcelona from the airport: TAXI: In front of every terminal you will find a taxi stand. If they are available, they will show a green light with the text LIBRE or LLIURE (it means “available”) Hosted by: 2 BUS: The so-called “aerobus” goes every 12 minutes from 6am to 12pm, Monday to Friday, and from 6.30am to midday on Saturdays, Sundays and bank holidays. The price is around 3,30 € and the last stop is Plaza Catalunya. From this station, you can take the metro Line 3 (green line) to "Palau Reial" station and the ticket costs around 1.35 €. Travel card T-10 allows 10 combined journeys in any public transportation and its cost is around 7.00 €. For more information about public transport, please visit www.tmb.net. TRAIN: the Renfe Cercanías Line 10 links the airport with the centre of the city and the Sants Estació and Estació de França railway stations. The journey takes about 30 minutes. It departs from the airport, from 6am to 11.44pm - departures from the airport, from 5:12am to 10:42pm every 30 minutes. For more information, visit the Renfe’s site (www.renfe.es). CAR: If you rent a car from the airport, please leave “El Prat del Llobregat” and take C-32B. Continue along this route and head towards Ronda de Dalt / Lleida / Girona. Close to Barcelona, take route C-32 passing close to Cornellà de Llobregat and L’Hospitalet. Take B-20 and take Exit 10 called “Carretera d'Esplugues”. Take the street called “carrer de Gran Capità” and turn left towards Jordi Girona street. Please do not hesitate to contact us for any further assistance you might require.
