TRIANGLE EDUCATION FOUNDATION
“A fraternity is about the development of people and will only be as
strong as the people that are members. The extent of that strength will
be based on the character of the people and the experiences and
education that they have acquired.”
-- Randy Kerns mom71
Foundation Past President
Purpose
Triangle Education Foundation is a vital part of our fraternity that exists to enhance the
Triangle experience for both actives and alumni. The Foundation is an Illinois not-forprofit corporation, which is recognized as a public charity by the Internal Revenue
Service. Since contributions to the Foundation are deductible for federal income tax
purposes (and most states, as well), the Foundation provides a vehicle that permits alumni
to support Triangle's education programs.
Vision
The Triangle Education Foundation’s vision is to have Triangle members excel as leaders
with character and integrity within their professions and communities
Mission
Triangle Education Foundation values the opportunity that Triangle provides to its
members allowing them to excel in academics, leadership, and human interaction.
Triangle Education Foundation’s mission is to provide leadership and resources that help
achieve the educational and personal development goals and objectives of Triangle and
its members.
Programs
The Foundation provides support for the educational activities of Triangle in two primary
areas, leadership development and financial aid. The Foundation awards over $100,000
in support each year. The Foundation is confident this comprehensive support of our
chapters and members will lead to well rounded leaders and community minded citizens
in the fields of engineering, architecture and science. Each of the Foundation’s specific
programs is outlined below:
Financial Aid
 No-Interest Student Loan Program ($24,000 Ongoing)
The Foundation has a number of ongoing programs. Perhaps the best known (and
the program of longest standing) is its Student Loan Program. That program was
created by Triangle's Permanent Fund nearly seventy years ago, and was taken
over by the Foundation when it was created in 1971. The student loan program
provides interest-free loans of up to $3,000 to deserving Brothers, which are
repaid after graduation. To date, more than 500 members of Triangle have
benefited from the Student Loan Program, and with the continuing increases in
the cost of a college education, the loan fund is needed more than ever.
Unfortunately, even though the Student Loan Fund is a revolving fund, it is also
limited in size. If it were larger, more Brothers could benefit, and the individual
benefits could be even greater.
Student Loan applications are accepted year round. Applications can be
downloaded at http://www.triangle.org/tef/programs/scholarships/.
 General scholarships and fellowships available to members of all
chapters ($40,000+)
o Rust Scholarship

What You Can Do to Help
As you can see, the Foundation is much more than a fund raising vehicle. It has real
programs, developed and administered by real people, which provide real benefits to
Triangle Fraternity and its members in building the Triangle Experience. The Foundation
clearly understands and believes that its sole mission is to support Triangle and its
members, and it is committed to that mission. When you, as a Triangle alumnus, receive
your letter seeking support for the Foundation and its programs, please respond. It's
important to the future of Triangle, and, given Triangle's technical focus, we believe it's
also important to maintaining the competitiveness of our country.
Here are a few simple and convenient ways YOU can support the Foundation and its
educational programs.
Gifts in Honor, Gifts in Memory
One of the most thoughtful contributions an individual can make is a gift in honor or in
memory of a teacher, advisor, brother, friend, or relative. An honorary or memorial gift
is an appropriate way to recognize someone’s life and accomplishments. The magnitude
and diversity of the Foundation offers many opportunities for donors who wish to
associate the name of a family or respected individual with a project or program of
enduring worth.
The Purpose Of Your Gift
If you have any questions about how your gift could be used, a member of the
Foundation staff will be happy to help you with your selection. Gifts or bequests to the
Foundation may be earmarked for a specific use. The donor may specify that his gift be
used for a specific chapter of his choice. In turn, those funds can be used for
scholarships, educational and leadership programs and other various purposes. He may
also specify the gift be invested in a development program which will return many times
its value in support for scholarships, equipment, and educational programs for Triangle
over the years to come. If you have any questions please direct them to: Scott Bova,
President, Triangle Education Foundation, 120 S. Center Street, Plainfield, Indiana
46168. Telephone: (317) 705-9803. Email: Sbova@triangle.org
The Founders’ Club
In 1907 a group of young men gave of themselves to form an organization that would
impact young men for many years to come. They had a vision of the future and did what
it took to make it happen. They believed in a brotherhood of men, committed to scholarly
activity, developing strong bonds of brotherhood, with a strong sense of civic
involvement and the broadening of one's leadership skills.
These men made an investment in Triangle. In recognition of their sacrifice for the good
of the order, the Education Foundation created the Founders' Club.
The Founders' Club is one of the building blocks of the Triangle Education Foundation.
Club members contribute gifts of $10,000 (Diamond), $5,000 (Titanium), $2,500
(Platinum), $1,000 (Gold), $500 (Silver), $250 (Bronze), or $120 (Pearl)* over the course
of the fiscal year (July 1 - June 30). These individuals provide the financial foundation
Page 8 of 21
for a wide array of educational programs for the members of Triangle. All alumni are
invited and encourage to join this prestigious society. If you would like to become a
member of this group call the Foundation’s President, Scott Bova at (317) 705-9803 or
email him at sbova@triangle.org.
* Special Founders' Club for young alumni initiated within the past 10 years.
The President’s Men
In the fall of 2000 the Foundation launched the President’s Men, a new program
specifically geared towards undergraduate Triangle brothers. The President’s Men is a
special invitation from the Foundation President for undergraduates to give a vote of
confidence in the work of the Foundation.
The President’s Men is a special recognition society for undergraduate members. For a
$25 donation an undergraduate becomes a member of this elite society. With their gift
they reaffirm their commitment to leadership and scholarship by their support of the
many programs of the Foundation.
The Foundation sponsored programs such as the Educational Leadership Consultants, the
Herbert F. Scobie Leadership School, the Undergraduate Interfraternity Institute,
Leadership Advantage or the annual President’s Academy impact every Triangle chapter.
These programs have proven results in improved chapter size, GPA, and leadership
abilities.
The President’s Men program recognizes donors in the fiscal year (July 1 – June 30); if
you would like more information on the President’s Men program, please contact the
Foundation’s President, Scott Bova at (317) 705-9803 or at sbova@triangle.org.

The Living Oak Society was established to honor and recognize – during their lifetimes –
alumni and friends of Triangle who have made provisions for future generations of
students through will bequests, life insurance, trusts, and other planned gifts.
If you have included the Foundation in your will or estate plan and have not notified the
Foundation, please do so and you will be recognized as a member of the Living Oak
Society.
