UNDER 10s RULES
1. Team size should be 7 v 7
(Squads of 11 players)
2. The Penalty area extends 10 yds (9.15m) from the goal line and 18 yards
across the width of the playing area. The penalty spot should be 8 yds (7.32m)
from the goal line.
3. The goal size for all ages groups is 12ft x 6ft (3.6m x 1.8m)
4. The ball should be a size 4
5. A maximum of 4 substitutes may be used at any time with the permission of the
referee. Players may enter re-enter the game and all substitutes must have a
period of play.
6. Players are required to wear shin-pads at all times
7. Duration of matches should be 3 periods of 12 minutes with no one playing
more than 60 minutes per day.
8. The kick off is taken in the centre of the playing area to start the game and
after a goal has been scored.
9. There is no off-side.
10. All free kicks are direct for fouls and misconduct.
11. Penalty kicks are taken 8 yds (7.32)
12. Throw ins should be taken in the normal way. A foul throw should be given
another chance after which it shall be awarded to the opponent.
13. The opposition should be at least 5 yds (4.5m) away when a corner,free kick
or goal kick is awarded.
14. Goalkeepers can handle the ball in the penalty area and there are
no restrictions on the number of steps they may take when holding the ball.
Return ball into play within 6 seconds with a throw or by a kick which must be
below crossbar height. If the ball travels above crossbar height a indirect free
kick will be awarded.
15. Goal kicks or defensive free kicks within the penalty area may be kicked from
the edge of the penalty area.
16. Back Pass. The back rule does apply. In the event that the goalkeeper picks the ball up from
a back pass by his own team mate an indirect kick shall be awarded from
the edge of the penalty area parallel with where the ball was picked up
17. There are no slide tackles.
18. Common sense should prevail at all times.
